QB-Jay Fiedler (00-04)
It is hard to go with Fiedler over Pennington, but he did lead the team to 3 ten win seasons, a division title, and two post season appearances with one win. He did throw for 66 TD to 63 INT, not great or even good...but he was more consistent than any other QB this decade. If Pennington would have finished this season healthy he would have been the clear cut winner.
RB-Ricky Williams (02-03, 05, 07-09)
Ricky set the Dolphins regular season record for rushing yards, 1853 yds, was an All-Pro and the Pro Bowl MVP. Then he flaked out on us because of Dave Wannstadt's overuseage of him, having him carry the ball more times than any other RB over his first two seasons in Miami. After a few years when he was getting his life together he came back and has produced well as the second option to Ronnie Brown.
FB-Rob Konrad (00-04)
What can I say not much to choose from Deon Dyer and Lousaka Polite were better blockers but were not here for long. Miami's offense under used as consistent receiving option out of the backfield. He had 854 yds. receiving and 7 TD in his time in Miami. Solid in his time here, but was never consistent.
TE-Randy McMichael (02-06)
He was a consistent receiving option in the offense, but never lived up to the potential he showed in his first two seasons in Miami. He started all 5 seasons in Miami, but had off the field issues.
WR-Chris Chambers (01-07)
Made the pro bowl in 2005, the only the Dolphin WR to do so in this decade. Recorded a catch in 60 consecutive games. Decent receiver that seem to have the potential to be great, but for whatever reason (probably because of poor QB play) he never developed to the we all thought he could be.
WR-Oronde Gadsden (00-03)
Know for his unbelievable catches, amazing at times. He was underappreciated by Dolphins management and toe problems led to him not being able to show he was the best possession receiver in football. One of my all time favorite Dolphins.
LT-Jake Long (08-09)
His two seasons in Miami have justified him being drafted 1 overall in 2008. Made the pro bowl twice and was a second team AP All-Pro in 2009. In 2008 he only gave up 2.5 sacks all season. Will be a fixture for years to come after a nearly a decade without a solid LT.
LG-Justin Smiley (08-09)
Has not played a full season in Miami, but has been good in his time here. I really can not put another player in this slot, LJ Shelton or Jeno James both were sub-par starters. Hopefully he continue to justify his contract and stay healthy.
C-Seth McKinney (02-06)
Well he was average at best, at times that is. We have been disappointed year after year from this position. I would believe the argument to put Tim Ruddy here.
RG-Rex Hadnot (04-07)
Played well at times, definitely out played his rookie contract in his seasons as a starter. Wanted a big contract and Sparano showed him the door. Good not great, was most consistent of anyone this decade.
RT-Vernon Carey (04-09)
Miami's most consistent and best O-lineman tis decade. Vernon is dependable, versatile, and should have been a probowler a couple of times. He is one of the best RT in the game.
LE-Adewale Ogunleye (00-03)
Went to the probowl in 2003 when he recorded 15 sacks after being undrafted in 2000. He was a great addition to Jason Taylor on the other side of the line.
DT-Tim Bowens (00-04)
Went to the probowl in 2002. Help take blockers away from Zach, he was a key player on our defense. He was forced into retired thanks to back problems following the 2004 season.
NT-Nate Fergunson (08-09)
Fergunson was a god send to our defense and was still a great player when he got here. Injuries cut his time short this year. Keith Traylor played more seasons, but was on his last legs...Fergunson was still a great player in his time in Miami.
RE-Jason Taylor (00-07, 09)
Duh...more sacks than any player this decade, 6 time probowler, 3 time all pro, and defensive player of the year in 2006. Should be a Hall of Famer when all is said and done. Oh and on top of that he was the Walter Payton Man of the Year in 2007.
OLB-Joey Porter (07-09)
He got a huge contract to come to Miami. Disappointed his first year in Miami, came back with 2008 and pro bowl year and led the AFC in sacks. 2009 he had 9 sacks in a year when he struggled with injuries, but a good player none the less.
MLB-Zach Thomas (00-07)
6 probowls, 3 times an All-Pro, and the leader of our defense for 8 years this decade. He has more tackles than any one in the hall of fame. A fan favorite and deserves to be on the leagues all decade team.
ILB-Channing Crowder (05-09)
429 tackles, but does not make big plays only one INT. Not too much to choose from he has been consistently average his whole career which is more than you can say for most of our LBs this decade.
OLB-Junior Seau (03-05)
One good season when he recorded 133 tackles, one average season and torn a pec muscle. 2005 was spent on injured reserved, he played well when he was healthy.
CB-Patrick Surtain (00-04)
3 time pro bowler, and 2 time all pro. Was one of the best CB in the NFL for those years. Had 29 INT in 108 games in Miami.
CB-Sam Madison (00-05)
Was a starter all 6 years, great leader, him and Surtain was the best CB tandem in the NFL.
FS-Brock Marion (00-03)
Three time probowl and All pro in 2000.
SS-Yeremiah Bell (04-09)
Best defensive player on the team, overcame injuries early in his career to become a consistent starter.
K-Olindo Mare (00-06)
Career kicked 82% on field goals, he was the best at kickoffs in the league for years.
P-Brandon Fields (07-09)
Stuggled somewhat his first season, has become a top tier punter. Has one of the best highlight blooper reels in the NFL, when against the Steelers in 2007 he punted the that stuck in the ground.
