With all our recent moves in resigning and adding released players, are we all of a sudden in a cap crunch?

Adding in the additional 4million everyone got to the salary cap:

Before signings I estimate we are around 33-35million under the cap.

Factor in:
Vernon- 7mil
Wilson- 6mil
Crowder- ~6 mil

Thats 19 Million off our cap. So we are down to 13-15mil under.
Here are my best estimates (probably high) for current FA targets/suggestions.
Brown: 9mil
Coles: 5-6mil
Bell: 5-6mil
Bodden/McFadden/Goodman: 4-6 mil

Plus we can assure our draft picks will take a couple million off the cap room.

What I'm trying to get at is, we all need to bring our FA expectations down a notch. If we get Brown can only afford 1 other named FA. Getting each is now mathmatically eliminated, although it was never really practical.

Plus next year Brown and Penny are FA. We don't need to get into a Jets cap situation.

35 million goes quick.

Edit:
I'm not going into panic mode here, and predicting doomsday.
I just wanted to point out what I see as our current cap situation, and temper some peoples' FA expectations. There is absolutely no panic in my post.

I wish we would have resigned Carey last year and put his entire signing bonus against last years cap.

Wilson will make 16.5m over the first three years, but we don't know the exact cap number for 2009. Carey will count only 5 mil (2mil signing bonus + 2mil roster bonus + 1mil base salary). Crowder got around 20mil, but only 8 mil guaranteed. so, i doubt he will cost 6mil against the cap. more around 5 as well. i think we're closer to 15-16 than 19.

Hopefully Coles takes a discount to play with Pennington, because i don't see how we can fit Bell AND Coles plus all the draft picks, even with cuts. This could mean the end of Bell.

I agree. But remember we have the greatest franchise builder in NFL history in charge. I am not worried a bit about our FA signings or drafting with Bill and Jeff running things and everyone else should chill IMO with assumptions and worries.

Don't forget that the players that signed were collecting a paycheck last year.

Bonuses are prorated against the cap for the #5 of years signed. So that wouldn't have worked.

lets not panic just yet fellas and if we did go over the cap for one year wont kill us it is when a team does what dallas did that will come back to bite you.

With wilson picked up that prob means bye bye bell. oh well make more room for top notch pickups. bell prob asking for to much for a above average player

Yeah but Crowder will make closer to 6.5 while Wilson makes 5.5. I just rounded up and down to make the numbers whole. The original cap number has enough uncertainty to it that I didn't think a million here or there made a difference.

I love significant figures

I think it is time to say Chad Johnson come on down we have a opening just for you and coles.

sorry fella this beer i had for breakfest was might cold but it is a 6 point beer so my judgment is already clouded.

seriously i think we will be ok because we wont be bringing in Pacman Jones and a host of other players so i think we will be just fine.

We have some deadweight we can cut if need be. I wouldn't be too worried about it. This means Bell is a goner though for sure unless we get him back for the min.
