All signs point to Regie being the Main Back. Can he carry the workload?

He might be the feature back, but he is not going to get 25-30 carries a game. 15 carries sounds about right. You can be the feature back and not have to be a 25+ carry a game workhorse. Daniel Thomas and possibly Lex Hilliard are going to get plenty of carries during the games. It is just that when the team walks onto the field to start the game, the lineup will include Bush, not Thomas. Don't get overally worked up about this, wording is everything.

for the love of god.. limit his touches. under no scenario does giving MORE touches to a guy prone to injuries with few touches will lead to more durability or effectiveness.

does anyone else understand that chris johnson sucks for about 15 carries a game and then breaks loose for a couple of big gains which makes him a league leader in yards? chris johnson and reggie bush are identical backs

I dont agree . Johnsom has shown he can carry the load while Bush has shown he is injury prone and has trouble between the tackles

Chris Johnson is more durable than Reggie Bush.

Lots of small, fast RBs can be the main ball carrier. But they have to be durable at the NFL level. Guys like Chris Johnson, Jamaal Charles, Warrick Dunn (when he was playing).

Right now, the Miami training camp seems to have a lot of small, fast, fragile RBs made of glass. Reggie Bush, Kory Sheets, Nic Grigsby, and Tiki Barber (coming out of retirement at age 36, he might be vulnerable to injury).

It seems unlikely that any one of those guys can hold up for a 1000+ yd rushing season. Maybe the plan is to stash Kory Sheets and Nic Grigsby on the practice squad, and insert them if/when Reggie Bush goes down. If one guy can't make it through the whole season, then maybe three can.

Im picking up reggie for sure. Maybe in the 5th.

Yeah that is about where I would take him....5th round. You never know with Reggie. Without Ricky and Ronnie around, he should get the ball quite a bit, especially since Thomas is a rookie. Hilliard also should get some looks, but Reggie is the only real guy we have at RB with a lot of experience and carries/receptions.

The thing is, he was being phased out of the NO offense after his 2nd season...then last season he just got landed on wrong in a PR pile...plus the turf does damage to guy whose main strength is cutting..not to mention there is a strong myth prevalent among sports media that the Saints knew how to use him perfectly...

The best of Reggie is yet to come...toward the end of 09, he was running with purpose, turning his shoulders parallel to the LOS and driving through contact..he was doing that last year as well, but even before the injury SP was only giving him 5 looks a game...guy is WAY too talented to touch the ball 5 times...anyway, barring injury (which admittedly you have to say is a possibility with him until he proves otherwise) you will be surprised...

Im actually not too worried about this. Ive been a supporter in Bush since he came into the league and I always thought he had a special set of talents, very akin to a player like Hester. Just the type of electricity you dont see very often at all, and I was beyond pleased when we signed him, I wouldve liked to add Bradshaw WITH Bush, but im not gonna sweat the past. I think Reggies talent and determination/ work ethic will propel him to be an above average runner. Even if hes slated as our feature back, I dont think it will make much difference other than he will be listed as #1. I still think DT will get most of the between the tackles yardage, and we will utilize alot of screens and swings to play to Bush's strengths. Im not worried at all, and I have faith that DT and Bush will be a formitable backfield. Smash and Dash; the Fins way!

hahahhaah i would argue they are the OPPOSITE of identical.

One is good. The other is not.

I'm not sure I buy that excuse. Some of the best cutters - like Barry Sanders and Marshall Faulk - had long careers on artificial turf.

Sanders did hurt his knee in 1993...and Faulk retired due to knee injuries...I'm not saying it's a fact anyone playing on turf will get hurt like RB got hurt...I'm saying that it doesn't help.

if he is our workhorse, we are in seriously up **** creek on offense. Invest in paddles.

I'll take a dozen. :d-day:

15 carries is nuts with reggie bush...if you want to get him hurt by all means be my guest...he needs 12-15 touches per game...thats how we'll get the most bang for our buck and have the best chance of keeping him healthy

do not sit here and think this dudes gonna run the rock like a bradshaw or any other true combo back and stay healthy...his career tells you different...south floridas not gonna make him into something he's not

Here's my optimistic hope on Reggie Bush:

Coming out of college he was hailed the next big thing. The second coming of Walter Peyton. He was going to revolutionize the RB position. He was always told he was the greatest. Then he had some hiccups in NO. He was oft injured. And IMO the biggest reason Football players get injured are either dumb luck, or lack of off season preparation. Now, I dont know Reggie's work ethic at all... But as a Dolphin homer my theory is...Because he was always coddled and told how great he was he was lax with his off season regiment and therefore was oft injured. (Again my Dolphin Homerisum) He has a chance to revitalize his career, and is more dedicated to his preparation and will turn his career around!!

From a Fantasy standpoint... Even if I am right about Reggie and he does turn his career around. I dont expect big touchdown numbers from him. Fantasy football is all about TDs. And I think DT, Polite, or Hillard will steal a lot of goal line touches from Reggie. Either way. I am getting more excited about the season every day.

Lets go Fin's!!! 2011 is our season!!

Honestly, I'm kinda looking forward to what an elusive speed back like Reggie can potentially do for us.

( Did I just sound optimistic?)
