Just as it happens every year, people get carried away with last years records when talking about this years schedule.
Let's look at it again with 5 weeks in the books and you will see it is starting to look a little better. True the next 3 weeks will be brutal, Saints 5-0, @Jets, @Pats, but the jets had the saints beat if not for a rookie QB turning the ball over on the road. We match up much better with New Orleans and if we can keep the big plays to a minimum we should be able to move the ball. The jets are gonna be hard to beat up there and the pats as well.
But now lets look at the rest of the schedule. We then go on to 3 games of the bucs 0-5, the panthers 1-3, and the bills nuff said, who have a combined 2-12 record.
We play the pats at home prime time, then play the 2-3 jags (who just got beat 41-0 by a bad seattle team), the 0-5 titians, and the 2-3 texans before playing the 2nd place steelers in the last game of the season.
After we get through the next 3 games the rest of our schedule has a combined record of 12-27. Our entire remaining schedule including the next 3 games is 23-31.
Things are not looking nearly as bad as they did two weeks ago. This is still a doable deal. We can still make the playoffs even if we lose to the saints and split with either the jets OR the pats. (we will need to sweep one of them however). 11-5 will again win this division. The colts game my come back to bite us but at this point we still have a chance. If we could upset the saints it would nearly make up for the colts game (although not completely b/c saints are non conference).
But anyhoo schedule is not nearly as big an issue as it seemed 5 weeks ago.
