All the Henne Hate is a good thing!- 10 reasons he will be top 15 QB this year

ehhh....top 15 i don't know...the thing i have noticed is henne looks to be a bit more athletic this year and he seems to have a better feel for the outside rush and steps up more...seems to feel pressure

but i've also noticed a lot of the same issues i saw last year...for example 3rd and goal from the like 5 yard line vs the bucs henne drops back sets his feet and the whole time he's looking for bess on the underneath route in the tight red at the front of the endzone and i mean the whole time which makes the bracketing boundary cb step up and instead of coming off 2 hartline running a out behind the cb in the corner of the endzone henne just tucks it drops his head and heads forward getting tackled at the like 2 yard line...i know things have to move fast in the tight red zone in the passing game but you've got to show that when you see a cb biting on the underneath you can come off and go to the 2nd read on that side...and he was bess or take off the entire time...one progression and gone

i'm sure though the lack of protection he got that night didn't help with going thru progressions

This season is really big for Chad. He either makes it as a starter or he can look at a career as just a journeyman backup QB like Billy Volic. The media has set the scene waiting for him to fail, eg in the game the other week against Carolina he looked terrific, but the only news item was Cam Newton, ie the media were waiting for Henne to fail and when he played well that didn't fit the script so nothing was reported. They are still waiting for him to fail to click into QB controversy mode. However, people underestimate the toughness in his makeup. Henne is blue collar tough and he is trying damn hard to turn it around.
While I was eager to see us pick up a higher quality backup in free agency or the draft, Ireland/Sparano have given Chad a huge break by not recruiting a higher profile backup because they are effectively putting their eggs in his basket. It is actually a great opportunity for Chad to turn it around.

so you're a "told you so" fan gotcha.

not sure how you came up with that idea from what I said but it certainly is not the case. Never have I said anything even remotely close to " I told you so " in my entire history on this site. Not my style bro. I'm gonna chalk this up as a misunderstanding because there is no truth to that comment

I hate Henne a lot. He is definitely not the worst starting QB in the NFL though.

John Beck/Rex Grossman
Tarvaris Jackson
Alex Smith

It could be worse.

I know you guys here this all the time.But..Its only preseason and defenses are so plain with no real blitzing and starters already made the team.So they are not gonna show anything.Tampa was a playoff team last year and don't wanna show anything to there rivals..
