All the proof you need to see Chambers is NOT a #1 WR

I have been arguing for weeks about Chambers not being very good... yet person after person continues making excuses for him. I would love to hear CC supporters thoughts after reading this article:
http://www.thephinsider.com/story/2007/1/11/03626/1623
You can see how we was outperformed by his own teammates, many #2 WR's, and most #1 WR's... even those with questionable situations at QB, as ours was. Both Welker and Booker outperformed him, despite 50 less opportunities. The guy can't get open.
Just read it, and try... just TRY to continue to defend him.

Player ...........Rec.. /Yds.... /TDs.... /Targets %... /Caught %... /1st Downs.. /Drops
Chris Chambers 59 ...677 .....4 ........154 ................38.3 .................23.4 .........8
Marty Booker... 55... 747..... 6......... 90................ 61.1................. 40............ 4
Wes Welker..... 67 ...687..... 1 ........100 ................67 ...................33 ............4

This is why the Dolphins need to draft a stud WR with the #9 pick. Chambers would be a perfect #2 WR.

Chambers had a bad year there's no disputing that, but I'm not buying that he can't get open because
A: I've been to some games and saw that Chambers WAS getting open, and...
B: That game he had last year with something like 15 catches for over 200 yards......You just cannot have that type of game if you're unable to get open

I certainly am not making any excuses for him, he is definately a disappointment thus far.

I agree/have agreed. Chambers is really an unreliable #3. I don't really want him as a #2 because of the inconsistency. I'd cut him outright, and make Booker the #2, draft a #1 and get a WR or two in FA. A WR can that can return kicks would be a bonus.

I think everyone knows his numbers...But he gets paid number one money which is why he either has to start producing and be consistent like he did last season or we have to trade him...I think we could a second for him which wouldnt be a total loss because thats what we spent for him. I like him and am backing him, but he needs to be the player we all think he can be. Normal recievers dont just make those spectacular catches he usually makes...He is a talented reciever but inconsistent. All he needs is his consistency back

A: So what? Every WR in the NFL gets open once in a while. Look at his STATS.
B: No such thing as a bad game by a D, or bad secondary. Take away that one game for that season, what were his overall stats and #'s? Any player can have one, singular, career performance. That was his. Do you want to pay him over 7 million $'s next year for ONE shining performance? He can't do it with consistency, as the great one's do, and as most #1 WR's do.
You have not provided a single valid point as to why he should be considered a true #1 WR.

I dont believe hes the type of game changing wide reciever. He might get open at times but when you cant catch the ball and are in the top five in the league in dropped passes you arent gonna get many looks your way. We need a game changer. Someone who can be thrown to when the game isnt going your way. Chambers just doesnt get it done when he is relied upon.

Exactly. It is also clear he isn't getting open, b/c as the #1 WR on the Fins, he will be the #1 option in most passing packages. But Joey had to throw the ball away so many freaking times b/c CC wasn't open! He was the target and main option on 64 more plays than Booker, and 54 more plays than Wes. Yet, less yards than both. Am I to believe that Joey threw the ball well to Wes and Marty, but not Chris? Heck, no. CC wasn't getting open. We need an upgrade here.

I agree with that article but the thing that stands out and i agree with the most is this:

"The main thing, though, that comes out of this analysis is the fact that Chambers isn't worth the $7.3 million salary he'll be getting in 2007. That needs to be restructured very quickly. If guys like Jason Taylor and Zach Thomas, players who are leaders and among the best in the league at their respective positions, are willing to restructure their contracts to help this team, Chambers certainly needs to do the same thing because he just isn't good enough to get paid the amount that he is."

Hey... thanks for the 1 star rating on the thread! Someone disagrees? Hey, I'll get 'em with a 1 star rating! lol:sidelol:

Funny thing is.....I never said he was a true #1 WR. I just said that he DOES get open. Would I like to have a WR better than Chambers at #1??? YES, it would be awesome to have someone at WR who is more of a playmaker than Chambers at WR, but we haven't had that in YEARS. My point is......he may not be a GREAT WR, or may not be a true #1 WR, but he's not nearly as bad as everyone makes him out to be. Throw all the stats you want to out there, but it doesn't tell the full story, or how the throws were made. A throw away in Chambers direction counts as a throw to him in those stats. Chambers also ran more plays deep, and Joey Harrington couldn't hit cement standing in an empty parking lot from more than 20 yards away. Everyone seems to be in love with Marty Booker here, but Booker went to Multiple pro bowl before he came to Miami, and what has he done here......NOTHING. This was Marty's best season BY FAR, and he only had 55 catches for 747 yards and 6 TD's. So does that mean that Booker sucks now too, or maybe our QB's/offensive system blows???

The only way i would wanna draft a WR is if we can get Calvin Johnson, otherwise dont waste it on a reciever.
