Why is it people frown on those of us who predict 7-9 or 8-8?? What the hell is wrong with that prediction? That folks is a HUGE improvement.

We have just as much faith in our team as those who predict 12-4. Hell if I thought Miami was going to go 12-4, I would be VERY Mod edit: That language will get your account suspended next time you use it on this MB dissappointed if Miami didn't win the superbowl. If you win 12 games in your first year, then what the heck is the gauge for the following year?

I see people writing he didn't bring all those free agents in to go 7-9....what do you expect Saban to do? Sit on his hands and not try to be competitive?

Some of you have totally forgotten what Saban said early in his being hired..."Make Haste Slowly". He wants his team to over achieve this year. Over achieve is not going 12-4....that is a dominating performance. A team like that needs no changes and like I said should win the superbowl.

Falcons went to the championship with jim mora jr in his first year as a head coach why can't we do the same with saban?

Because we are not the Falcons and Saban isn't Jim Mora jr..

Look, of course its not impossible to make the playoffs in his first year. I'm just saying if we go 7-9, that is definitely a positive direction.

In addition, those with the high expectations, what if we eat turd and go 6-10 this year. Will you then ask for Saban to get fired and critique all the changes he has made to date because with the "raw" talent he had, there was no reason why he shouldn't have met your expectations??

So you're saying Saban would rather go 6-10 or 7-9 than 12-4 or 11-5. Just because he'd rather make haste slowly, and 12-4 would be making the haste too fast for his taste. Agreed.

Because the Falcons are a much better team then the Dolphins.....

Actually I think he would want to go 16 - 0, win AFC championship and the superbowl. Wouldn't any coach?
He didn't say that just to say it though. He wanted to temper people's expectations of him to come in and magically make this team into a powerhouse in one year. Thats how I took it anyway.

Going 7-9 to me is not a positive direction because we would have done that last year if Ricky William was there look at all the close games we lost last year.
how is winning 3 more games positive.

While I think 7-8 wins is probably what we'll achieve I don't see the problem with people being optimistic. I do wonder why you have a problem with it though, thats what they think. Hell, we could win 10 I don't know, neither do you. I just don't see whats wrong with people having hope that we might contend for the playoffs, or better yet why you care.

You don't know what we would have done if Ricky was here. Hell I could say I would have won all my fantasy leagues too...but does it really mean anything? No.

EVERY team in the NFL loses close games. Miami is no exception. There was a study done not too long ago where they said that the average loss was less than 10 points league wide. That is why the NFL went and enforced all the rules to help bring more offense to the table.
I would bet that if you go back the past 5 years and MARK Miami's close losses as Wins, we would have been in the championship game every year.

Just keep your expectations in line people...

We have a good core, but we have some questions/issues, too.

We have questions at QB, OL, DB.
We have a BRAND NEW SYSTEM to learn and execute.
Rookies usually need time to adjust.
We play the #1 toughest schedule in the NFL.
We play in the tough AFC East.

It may take some time to develop. Hence, 8-8 or even 7-9 is not necessarily a bad result for Year 1 of Saban.

He will continue to build/improve next offseason as well. ;)
12-4, and even 11-5 is probably unrealistic (not impossible) but unrealistic to EXPECT from Year 1 of Saban.
