Hungry For A Championship
Just for fun...I was thinking about who the Phins should take in the top 4 draft picks exclusively in the junior class.
Round 1: Vernon Davis TE/Hback, MD
Round 2: Darnell Bing, USC
Round 3: Ray Edwards DE, Purdue
Round 4: Greg Lee WR, PITT
These are system draft picks.
Vernon Davis would allow the Phins to use 2 TE sets consistantly to support the running game and allow McMichael to get in pass routes more often. Davis is compared to NE Ben Watson, but more productive in College.
Saftey, imho, is the most important addition needed in this defensive scheme. We want to be able to play more Zone coverages and need a safety that can hit and not get beat deep. Bing's health issues should keep him out of the first round.
Edwards would be converted to LB in a McGinest type role on the strongside.
Another skill player at WR would be nice...If Greg Lee can have a near 1000 yard season under a Wannstedt led scheme, then you know he has some skills... Good size and 20 yards per catch and the ability to make great catches.
