This guy is a 6' 9" TE from West Point served 4 tours in Afghanistan and wants to give football one more try, I think this would be a good signing for leadership alone and would shine some positive P.R. on our team. Im sure it would be a minimum only contract what really is there to lose we could ditch him after O.T.A. if he has nothing to give.

Blast Away LOL

Signing would only work if he has a good workout with the team. The background is great, but that doesn't bring W's. He would be a possible practice squad guy. Not sure too much of his college career.

At Army Villanueva played wr, te and tackle. That's something you don't see every day, a wide receiver doubling as an offensive tackle. I tend to want to avoid 25/26 year old rookies that still need work. He might be 28 before he's ready to contribute. If he were 21 or 22 I might bring him in for a try out and maybe put him on the practice squad.

I didnt really have illusions of this guy turning into the next big thing but as a OTA and camp fodder i thought it would be a goodwill gesture for very little risk and maybe to some of our immature players to see what a real man was and also you really never know with them acorns lol

A 6"9" soldier serving in Afghanistan who was able to not get his head blown off deserves every opportunity in the world.

It could have been worse. He could have been in the Navy and been assigned to a sub.

That would have been a safer situation. I'd rather bump my noggin on pipes than have it exposed to gunfire. Dude has nads.

Don't know if this guy has any talent to go with that outrages height, but as crash said, this man does have huge ones.

It sounds a great story and he is probably a terrific guy. However, the pragmatist within says give him a workout but it's highly unlikely that he has the hands to make it in the NFL and meet our TE needs. Army teams for the past 13 odd years have been not just bad, they have been consistently disgraceful and they have only run the ball. If they had a 6'9" weapon who could genuinely catch, he should have been able to make a decent impression on the field.
I'm 99% certain he would be a dud on the field. However, if there is a decent job going within the Dolphin organization, I'd encourage him to compete for it. The West Point education means that he is intelligent and very high character, and the experience in Afghanistan probably means he is well disciplined, can take orders and work with some difficult people. Good luck to the man. He's already a winner in life.

I watched him up close and personal during a week of Shrine practice.

Saw enough to say I'd give him a shot to compete for a right tackle position, but I'm not interested as a tight end.

if he can be a ST stud then he can make the roster. If Jeron Mastrud can make an NFL squad, why not this guy?

6'9 Soldier?

Holy crap, talk about a large target. Dude is hella fortuante to come home.

Agree with alot of posters, it would be a nice, touchy, feely story to bring the guy in for a workout and camp invite. HIGHLY doubt he makes the 53, but never the less would be a nice thing to do.

In addition, the positive PR wouldn't hurt the Fins after the Martin/Incog crap.

Well I'm a 6'8" 285lb sailor who has deployed twice with Marines to Iraq and Africa, also am a diehard Fins fan! Why not sign me up! I'm enlisted so you know I've seen action unlike the academy grads who never leave base! Lol!

Oh by the way the military is filled with great honest men and women almost as much as disrespectful and ignorant douchebags. So what he's done four tours, that doesn't do anything for our PR! Ya know what does? Win! And consistently win!
