Allen at CB or S? hmmm

Im just ready for him to play....it just seems strange that a first round pick is not seeing ANY playing time on a bad team....ecspecially at a position like Saftey.
 
saban is grooming allen for the "star" role in his defense. this position is a FS in base defenses but can also man up like a corner on slot wrs in nickle and dime packages or in cover 0/1 blitzes. atleast that's my understanding of it...

yea seems like he is grooming him to be a TROY Polamalu type S. as for us, the main hall of famer one day S it seems to me.

This is a great point and i wished everyone would see it,jason allen is saban's personal project and is teaching him everything about this star role position and is not going to put him out there until he kn ows all of his assignments and can play somewhat freely,your right its not just playing the safety position this kid is going to learn 3 different positions when he's on the field,both safety position's,some linebacker,slot cornerback, and blitzer, learning all that is taking its time but i for one understand and can see the big picture.
 
just to add one more thing,he is working on a position that we dolphin fans have never seen before.
 
im in no rush to see jason allen play... i too believe saban is grooming him to be our star def. player.. If the phins keep playing the way they are we might be able to land laron landry and we would be set at safety for long time...

I hope that is true.

If I recall correctly, Polamalu was drafted #16 by Pittsburgh and did not play much at all his first season either. Hopefully, JA will follow a similar career path because TP is a superstar!

No offense dude but the "star" position in Saban's D is strictly speaking, the nickel corner...

When Saban said the two positions Allen is learning, he said he is learning right safety, AND the star position. They aren't the same position...

CK, are you worried at all about JA? What were your thoughts on him before we picked him?

1st round picks other than QBs are not grooming projects. He should have at least seen the field by now.
 
LMAO at the idea of "grooming" a safety.

Jason Allen isn't that good, thats why he isn't playing. He was quite possibly the worst first round selection. Matt Leinart and Vince Young are already starting for pete's sake.
