Will, Will Allen be as good as we think he's going to be? Also will he be more of an impact player then our beloved Sam Madison.

I think he will. Saban is a defensive coach and Dom Capers is a defensive mastermind.

He'll do fine.
By the way, welcome to Finheaven :dolphins:

He's 27 and has 4.3 speed, aformer first round pick. Also really good in run support. For all the Allen haters out there, Nick's specialty is the secondary. He wouldn't have made the move if he didn't think the guy could be a real player in our system. I think a change of scenery will reallly be good for him.

Let us not also forget that Saban is a Secondary master and played the position so with some coaching this guy will learn to CATCH the ball which is his only weakness that I've read....

As all the posters said above, with Saban and Capers, he will floursih in our defense. Does he have 4.3 speed? Just wondering how fast he is.

Will Allen ran a 4.38 at the combine and then ran a 4.29 in his individual workout.

Will allen is just ok. I watched him alot this year. My brother is a season Giants ticket holder and I go to most of the games with him. He is very quick against the short routes. Awsome burst of speed. But can get beat when challenged deep. Very small against larger recievers in end zone situations.

Besides his size I believe he can hold his own, but will never be a surtain or madison at the same age.

he is an upgrade at the DB and in a couple of days with hill, goodman, allen, daniels, poole, bell, schulters hopefully...we have at least an adequate functional secondary..much better than Regiie " GETS BURNT ON BIG DOWNS" HOWARD. ALLEN IS A STARTING CALIBER BACK, he will be the satrter alongside daniels or poole.

Long time reader, first time poster here.

I think Saban believes W. Allen will flourish in his zone coverage schemes and corner blitzes. Sam Madison was an excellent man coverage corner who didn't buy into Saban's system. Sam will be a good fit in Coughlin's system because I think he runs mostly man. Will Allen on the other hand has the blazing speed to blitz off the corner and also has great closing speed in zone. I still think we paid too much for him though.

You saved me some typing, Nick must really like this guy and with the contract he received, I have to believe he is expected to be a starter.

Madison had a very good career here, but lets face reality, he has been slipping for a couple years, this was a nice youth upgrade for our defense.

I think Saban can make something out of him. He must see something we don't.
