only reason i can see Allen playing CB next year is that saban plans to draft out of our spot and draft landry for the FS spot. that wuoldnt be a bad idea to be honest. he knows the system, and he wants the FS apparently to be the main thing in our defense. the QB of the secondary. and allen has the speed and basically ALL of it to be a top CB.

W. Allen
J. Allen
T. Daniels
Goodman

FS Landry
SS- no one lolll (FA or draft later round)

looks ok to me. I see a lota new speed if u ask me tho thats the positive. Both allens are really damn fast and so is landry. goodman has speed only daniels lacks speed. im ok wiht that to be hoenst.

Saban said landry was the smartest player he ever coached/( i think also the best player)

the 2nd post i believ eit is, has GREAATT INFO regarding saban our D and the S position along with Landry. no wonder he wanted allen to be like Troy. the defense is like the way Troy plays and Landry will be our Troy and allen can be a good/shut down corner next to the other allen and daniels at his original slot spot.

Do we have to give up another first round pick for someone who'll ride the bench next year like Allen?

Allen is a FS.

No drama.

The article that this is taken from is so ambiguous as to be untrue. No-where in that piece is any quote saying he's being looked at as a corner in 2007, merely that he has the ability to play there, which everyone knows.

wont happen that aint what he lookin for! hes lookin for troy polumoulou:eek:

Nah man, Allen is perfect for FS . . . we gotta stop messing with this kid and let him be a playmaker for us in the secondary.

I personally hope we draft Brady Quinn, if we pick high enough.

But I hope they cut W. Allen. This guy is a bum, he is the reason i have high blood pressure, he always has atleast one pass interference play every game. (Usually in the worst time), and does tend to get beat deep.

Personally it's Tillman, not W. Allen that gives me high blood pressure. I think he's been alright this year, Tillman has been the the biggest problem in our secondary, espicially with pass interference calls.

Also judging by where we're likely to be drafting Landry simply isn't a smart pick. I felt he was a mid 1st rounder if he came out last year (as did most experts) and i haven't seen anything extra from him this year that would cause him to vault into the top 10 or even top 5 where we will likely be picking

Geez....even the fans can't seem to understand that we need major help on the OL. I thought that it has just been the coaches over the past 15 yrs!

Come on, we gotta take the best OL that we can get...probably in the first few rounds. Without the line we will be having the same discussion year after year after year....

honestly i think we should draft O-line in the first 3 rounds. find a way to get an extra 1st, or 2nd rounder...draft O-line. all these teams who win the super bowls, have the best O-lines. yea our O-line isnt terrible, but Ronnie doesnt get more than 70 yards a game...Imagine drafting Joe Thomas, Justin Blalock, and whoever is a top 3 center...then keeping Vernon Carey and LJ at right guard. Then in free agency, we can bring in some quality WRs.

So you're suggesting that if we are drafting #2 overall, we should pass on someone like Calvin Johnson to take a lineman who might be rated at a much lower slot? Last year, I feel we somewhat reached for a need with Allen. We need to take the best player available. There is no mistaking that we need line help. And we've had opportunity to upgrade this area of the team, but instead passed on talented players for second rate linemen who the coaches thought they could coach into being a solid unit. We should DRAFT the best player available in the first round and then possibly draft an o-lineman in the 2nd and be more aggressive with the linemen in free agency. We need young talent throughout this team. It would be a mistake to pick a lineman just for the sake of picking one.

If Allen plays corner... he needs to drop 20 lbs. Safeties are 220 lbs, Corners are 200 lbs. It's not real easy to fluctuate back and forth. Allen is 220lbs. Similar to the under-sized Zach Thomas. As I don't want to see Zach Thomas playing corner(that would be a sight), I don't want to see Allen play corner at his current weight.
********
Safeties are overweight, old, or out-of-shape corners (see Calvin Jackson, Deion Sanders, Troy Vincent).
I think if we had T-buck on the roster, he could be a starter at safety. I would have tried Madison at Safety, and drafted a corner.

It would have been interesting to see T-buck and Madison at safety this year. Certainly couldn't be worse than Tillman and Hill.

********
Since Zach is at an all-time low weight, and Crowder is playing well. You could move Crowder to MLB, and Zach to Safety. He is leading the team in passes defended and interceptions. Probably not a good thing to do, but he could probably get away with it this year.

Call me crazy, but I think Will Allen has been our best and most consistent secondary performer this season. Hopefully next year we'll have Daniels and W. Poole healthy and we dont have to draft another seconday position. Hopefully address the Strong Safety position in free agency and draft either a big play wide out or a book-end OT.

As things are looking I wouldnt mind Calvin Johnson... Speed, Height, Strength and a great attitude. just my 2 cents.

I don't forsee Allen moving to cornerback. If that were the case, he'd already be there(and learning the position), since he's not starting at FS currently anyways. Even with Allen as a safety though, we might still draft Landry if we were picking something like 8 or lower.
