Is the fact that cam cameron never hired an offensive coordinator, he decided to retain mike mularkey and make him TE coach, so we literally had no offensive coordinator on the staff, so cameron not only had to keep control of the team which he did a bad job of doing, but he had to put together a gameplan and strategy during the week for the offense, he had to micromanage, it was a mess, but Philbin is taking the correct approach and hired a very good offensive coordinator in mike sherman who has head coaching experience as well, so now philbin can let sherman craft the gameplan and strategy for the offense while Philbin will focus on being a Head Coach and controlling the lockeroom, I'm sure philbin will have some input with sherman during the week but I'm glad he is not making the same stupid mistake cameron made, Philbin seems to be like a very smart coach!

I actually think Philbin will collaborate on the game plan and just let sherman call the plays. Philbin is collaborative in nature. That is why he is respected around the league. He teaches, adjusts, and communicates.

I agree, I'm sure it will be a collaborative effort between them both, but I'm glad we have an experienced coach like sherman to focus on the offense while philbin can do what he was hired to do and that is be the head coach!

The only real comparison between Philbin and Cameron is that both seem to be nice guys when talking to the media. But Philbin seems like a guy that won't take crap from his players where Cameron just curled up into a ball when things got tough. Plus Philbin seems like a pretty intelligent guy.

I don't know what guy you were watching, but Cam came off as an arrogant prick.

ONE major difference between Philbin and CAMERON? you have got to be kidding me.......

Why is Cameron even brought up in this fourm?! You are seriously going to analyze what moves this jerkoff made?

The guy was the biggest f'ing moron and our worst coach of all time.

Fail. Forward. Fast.

Main difference, although there were many is that the job was way too big for Cam: he was in over his head. Far from that for Philbin.

The whole Cam Cameron thing was just surreal. You had players mutinying and screaming in his face but this is also the same guy who had a rule that players were forbidden to speak on the team plane during flights. Control freak who was unable to exercise any control.

Maybe but compared to guys like Saban and Sparano, he was more of the "nice guy" mold. Cameron had no control of the locker room and was a push over. I don't see any of those attributes with Philbin. Seems like a guy who will be able to put players in their place when things get tough.

Remember when Cameron benched himself for one of the preseason games? lol. Just for practice in case anything ever happened to him and they had to go with an interim head coach.

And what does that mean? It means I want you to FAIL, but when you fail I want you to fail forward and I want you to do it fast.

What a putz, lol. He may be looking for a job too this off season.

Why are you comparing Philbin to Cameron when everyone knows that Cameron was a terrible head coach but a great coordinator. You need to compare Philbin to Sparano (since he was our last HC). The difference between Philbin and Sparano is that:
1. B.P. is not here.
2. Philbin seems to have a head on his shoulders and not just a yes man.
3. Philbin is bringing his guys in that will help him to succeed.
4. Hopefully Philbin can adjust at halftime to make a difference in the 2nd half

I remember thinking...aren't you a first time coach?? Couldn't you use the practice?

i do think that was one of the many downfalls of Cameron. he should have just left Mularkey as OC and Im sure we would have had much more success. I never advocate wearing both hats. At least bring in a guy as OC and if you want to call plays do it.

They big difference was when they opened their mouth, Cameron just did not seem prepared to answer any difficult questions. Nothing was as uncomfortable as him handling the booing of their draft picks.
