Alright Huizenga!!! You stated that money would "not" be an issue. We have his OC and his ex OL coach. Seattle is threatening to break the bank on the guy....if they can do it...MIAMI CAN!

Get us Kris Dielman! Seattle can have Steinbach. Get us Dielman! Whatever it costs. We need our OL upgraded. If he is the only high priced guy we sign, so be it.

We are going to be $23.5mil under after the four cuts...OUTBID SEATTLE, WAYNE! :cooldude:

While I think it would be a great move to get K. Dielman too, I don't want us to blow all of our cap on getting just him. We still have a number of our own players we might sign, another f/A or two we're looking at and then we have to sign all our draft picks. Don't forget that Seattle is the same team that let Hutch walk last year because he wanted big $$. I doubt they break the bank to get KD. If we are smart about this, we can get KD and not have to blow a lot of our cap room. If not, then we get some guys in the draft. We'll see how much of a tie KD, Cam and Houck they really had.

Is it really wise to overpay for a former undrafted defensive tackle? I hope that we would continue to build the offensive line through the draft. Or maybe find our own undrafted DT to convert to guard.

That's a great quote but this isn't baseball.
There's a salary cap and you full well know that.

The issue has nothing and I mean absolutely nothing to do with Wayne H. anyway.

Mueller and Cam will be deciding whether one player is worthy of a HUGE investment. If it's true that Dielman is going to get Hutchinson money someone else can have him.

Huizenga is not in charge here. He has shown in the past that he is willing to spend all of the salary possible.
The real question is how much are the Fins willing to overpay Dielmann? I assume he will get 5-6 mio.How much are they willing to pay for a guard?
Because as nice as 23 $ cap space sound: that is only possible because the Fins have zillions of players unsigned. At the moment they not SS, not even a backup, no Welker, no punter, no David Bowens, no LT, probably no backup guards, no 2nd OLB, no Lemon and so on.

There is someone by the name of Antonio Gates who went undrafted, also.
I don't think being drafted is the key. There a lot of busts out there that were drafted at O-Line (Tony Mandarich just to name one).

But I do agree we need to build through the draft and stockpile as many players as possible.

All this "cheap" Mr Scrooge mental irrationalism makes me sick. We have more than enough cap room to outbid SEA for Dielman. What can he possibly cost the first year? $7mil against the cap? We have $23.5mil !!!! For crying out loud. Plus we are making room for him by ridding ourselves of two OL guys, Mckinney $4mil and Anderson $2mil. Then Carter adds $5.2mil and Harrington $2mil. All this cheap talk is ridiculous.

Giving him $10-15mil guaranteed and $5mil per year will only count $7-8mil against the cap. Stop crying and pony up!:ninja:

I agree completely, Wayne does his part already.

Dielman will be a Seahawk

Its just hard to believe though that Cam and Houck wouldnt have more of an influence than they do. I think we still have a chance at landing him, but only if we give near what Seattle would offer.

After we figure out our cap number we will see. However it's stupid to get into a bidding war over a guy who is very good....but is going to command money you would only give to great players. The guy isnt a top notch guard and there are a couple free agent guards that can get the job done so it would be dumb to overpay for a guard who is just slighty above average.

The only way they should sign him is if they do not over spend for him. They will know his value as opposed to the value he will be asking because he will be a wanted comodity.

This team needs to be smart when it comes to spending so they do not kill their future cap situations.

Besides that they will need to spend money on some other quality players to fill the empty roster spots they have.

Spend but do not over spend. It's not worth it on a team that is not just one Dielman away from the Playoffs, much less the Super Bowl.
