The Dolphins (6-8) will finish at .500 or worse for the eighth time in nine years and will likely spend January on the couch, even if they sweep their final two games at Kansas City and at home against Buffalo.
Despite the faintest of prospects, coach Adam Gase anticipates incentive won’t be a problem for his players the rest of the way.

Gase is fine. Cutler, and now it's indisputable, ****ed our season up.

Just for the laughs, I kind of want people to defend Cutler. They won't. But if you do, hilarious.

2nd in ints 32nd in ypa

TD% 4.6 - 17th best
INT% 3.6 - 5th worst
Y/A: 6.1 - 32nd best
Sack%: 4.9 - 8th best
Fumbles: 5 - 26th worst

2015 under Gase:

TD% 4.3 - 20th best
INT% 2.3 - 16th worst
Y/A: 7.6 - 11th best
Sack%: 5.7 - 19th best
Fumbles: 8 - 12th worst

He wasn't great in 2015, but that's a more efficient passing offense. He has been pretty good about fumbling - Sunday notwithstanding - this season, though. Credit to him for ball security in the pocket.

Probably ranks as the worst QB play in a season in franchise history - adjusting for the era.

Probably the four guys we rolled out in our expansion season, 1966. I'm certainly not old enough to remember that, but our combined passer rating for 1966 was 39.1. Dick Wood, George Wilson, Rick Norton and John Stofa.

According to my dad, who was a season ticket holder, Stofa was actually pretty OK, and the other guys were godawful.

- Oh my God, quarterback D_ck Wood's name is censored. While I realize that D_ck Wood is a great name, I really think the board's censoring filter is a little ridiculous. It's a man's first name, dammit!

Not really....Tannehill ruined the season by not getting the surgery last year.

Cutler tried to get in sync with a brand new team..., And salvage the mess Tannehill made....it wasn't successful.

39.1!!!! Dick Wuood!!! LMAO!!!!

Tannehill did as advised. If they had told him a total blowout was a definite possibility he’d have had the surgery.

He’s a quarterback. Not a physician. He did as advised, same as we all would.

Either way, I guess it’s something for guys to bitch about.

Having a competent QB behind center in 2018 should be good enough to get 3 or 4 more wins. Improve the pass defense and this should be a playoff team next season.

No matter what anyone wants to believe the Patriots are on borrowed time. Their star QB will be over 40 and their head coach will be a year closer to 70. Brady will retire at some point which will cost them a few wins each year and eventually Belichick will burn out. Then they will be in rebuilding mode. It is up to the Dolphins to take the right steps to finally turn their team into a contender again. Hopefully Gase is the right guy to do it.

Isn't it funny how the sprain was considered a positive when Tannehill's injury occurred when in reality a full tear would have been better news. Funny how that worked out.

Stofa was a fan favorite. My dad liked him. Seemingly everyone in town liked him. I was maybe in second grade. Mostly I remember nodding my head as the fathers expressed appreciation of Stofa and his story. I think he was a part time schoolteacher and minor league footballer who somehow got a tryout in the AFL. Then I do remember he had a big game in the finale of the inaugural season and the Dolphins won in an upset. That led to the popularity. A year later Stofa got hurt early in the season and every time the Dolphins lost you would hear grumblings that things would be so much better with Stofa.

So there were similarities from 1967 to 2017.

Cutler only had two seasons below 7.0 YPA entering this season...a 6.6 in his first season with Chicago, and 6.8 in 2014 when the Bears collapsed under Marc Trestman, who was fired immediately after the finale. The 6.1 makes very little sense in relation to Cutler's overall career level. I know it can be assigned to rust or unconcern but it's difficult to believe that coaching and personnel did not play a significant role also.

Every time I mention the Dolphins safety Anderson from our '70s glory years the profanity filter somehow eliminates his first name. In fact it happened just a few days ago.
