After a rough 2015 and 2016, can this guy rebound and be a contributor with us? He's only 28 and he's played at a high level before.

What's everyones vibe on this guy?

I loved the signing. Have no idea what happened with him the last 2 years, but he was really good his first few years. If he can be that guy again, we may have lucked out. The potential is there.

I liked the signing. It's one of those times when the guy has has success in the past but has faded a bit since. The hope is there that he rebounds and kicks ass with the Dolphins.

If he is who I think, there was a play last week that really stood out to me. He was covering a WR (Wallace?) and he slipped on that god awful field... instead of just giving up, he got up and hustled to get back to the WR and ALMOST batted the the ball away, just was just a split second too late. Loved the effort.

I just skimmed the Wikepedia on Alerraun and he is IMPRESSIVE>
OMG! He was a track star and GPA as well as a football star in High School and College and had a near perfect SAT....
And he was playing Pro bowl football until he went to the Bucs 2 years ago...
Guy plays like he did in Tennessee and Miami got a rising star.

I pray he's able to return to his Titan days so we can save the $10 million cap
hit on Maxwell next year

He was a star CB on his rookie contract in Tennessee that enabled him to earn big money at Tampa Bay. A year ago he earned $6M - in comparison, he's now on a $900K deal in Miami. Right across the NFL there are only a very small percentage of CBs that are considered good enough to make $6M per season. Verner is extremely athletic and Coach Gase spoke effusively about him in one of the recent Q & A sessions after practice. Gase didn't hide his opinion that Verner is much better skilled than he previously realized. Time will tell but there is a chance that he struggled in Tampa Bay but better fits in the system here as a Dolphin. Definitely good depth and we got him for a bargain.

That was actually Maxwell.

I noticed the exact same thing Chris. I had to figure out who that was. On that play alone, IMO, he made the team. Great hustle play. He is excellent depth, if nothing else.
