as we approach the beginning of the season tonight, and our opening game on Monday, i continue to read all sorts of NFL related things as i always do.

what i keep reading is all sorts of journalists, nfl related people, etc, thinking we are going to win 4-6 games, and heck i even read one where someone said 3 is a real possiblity. that would put us basically on par with our 2004 team which was 10 times less talented then this one.

So that begs my question, is their something im missing? did we lose like half our defensive players to ir already, did we lose long for the season, or Marshall, etc? because their is no way in hell this team is that bad with this type of talent. i just feel that i maybe missing something because you cant have everyone putting you at 4-6 wins with this type of team and not have any injury problems.

dont get me wrong, their are some question marks, but considering we hit rock bottom last year on offense and with a lesser type of defense last year, yet we still managed to win 7 games, which is nothing to write home about, but nonetheless is not bottom 5 bad.

this team i believe, assuming health will win anywhere from 9-12 games. we have the defense to stay in any game, and our offense i feel can be pretty solid as long as henne plays somewhat decent. does not even need to be great, just solid.

basically, because the owner and GM tried to go out and find another coach/QB, the team wont play for them and will lose. they also expect to have Nolan as HC after week 5 or 6 when we havent won a game yet.

lol, i just cant wait till week 1 when we start to win and make everyone eat their crow.

like people would think who are not dolphin fans, or for that matter people who are fin fans, that with what is being said about us this year, this is going to be our worst team we have put on the field in ages. obviously 07 we went 1-15, but a lot of that had to do with basically 40 out of the 53 guys on the opening day roster went to ir. this prediction though is based on our full talent on the roster, health, and before anyone is hurt. makes no sense.

Looking at the schedule I think 8-9 wins is doable, more than that I´ll be surprised.

We looked bad at the end of last year. Then we lose Ricky and Ronnie and pick up Bush who shouldn't be an every down back and Daniel Thomas who no one is that excited about. We tried getting a new head coach, but did it in a way that looks like we are desperate to upgrade at HC. Then we go after Orton and fail making it look like we have no faith in Henne. Then the fans boo Henne at practice and chant we want Orton. From an outside perspective it would seem this team is a total mess. If I wasn't a Dolphin fan and didn't closely follow the team I would think 4 or 5 wins a definite possibility. Plus the O line is horrible.

Nice assessment Swan you summed it up very well. Personally I think the defense is improved and the new offense looks nothing like last season, if Henne pulls his weight we are in the mix.

This is a good analysis on how others would view this team if they didn't follow them from the "inside". The vast majority of people only saw the things that made national media headlines, which was all horrible stuff.

The funny thing is that we aren't AS BAD as "they" say we are. So when we DO win more than those 4 or 5 games, the "experts" will flip out and say how we are such an improved team and yada yada yada.

This is very true, but I don't think the mainstream media is considering it at all.

It's a talented roster, with a brutal schedule. My barometer isn't the pats game as much as the Houston one. If we can limit *that* offense, we're in pretty street.

Until we start winning....we are who they think we are!!

I agree with that. We have to prove we can win. I think we can and will change the media's perception this season. Let's hope I didn't jynx us. I believe in this team, and I like the philosophy going into this season. I haven't liked our boring and scared mentality the past few years so this is a breath of fresh air.

Our high round draft picks, with a couple of exceptions (Long) have set the franchise back 5 years, maybe 10. You have to strike gold better than Miami has on draft day. I wonder if the NFL has an option like Yahoo Fantasy where our ownershp can just set it up for "Auto-Draft", and we take the highest rated player available when it's our turn. I guarantee if we'd done that the past 5-7 years we'd be a better team today.

@ Mialuv13

I'm one of the most superstitious folks out there, when it comes to the Phins. I agree with you, but I am just to nervous to believe. I've been let down way too many times the last 35yrs.

I prefer to win but if we're going to suck 3 isn't a bad win total. Sure would put us real close to getting one of Andrew Luck or Matt Barkley...would also mean we get a new coach for sure and possibly a new GM. Question then becomes, is Ross smart enough to get the right GM/Coach in here. As much as everyone hated Wayne H. he was a heck of a pitch man and rarely didn't get the guy he wanted...if ever.

I'm not a Ross basher like many on here and I appreciate his effort but I don't think he knows the first thing about football and I don't think he knows how to get the right people that do. Personally I'm crossing my fingers that we have a successful season because as much as I don't like Ireland (more than I don't like Sparano) I fear if we tank the new GM/Coach may be far worse than the present and it may be even worse than Mueller/Cameron.
