Amendola clearly has another concussion already. He thinks he’s re-signing with New England but instead is signing with Miami.

I'm just glad they're getting smarter so they can dominate those all important spelling contests come August.

"Amendola played 49.9 percent of the offensive snaps in 2017, a result of the team losing receiver Julian Edelman to a torn ACL in the preseason and Chris Hogan missing seven regular-season games with a shoulder injury. The Patriots have managed Amendola's health carefully in recent years to preserve him for the homestretch and playoffs, but 2017 required him to take on a larger load, and he responded." Source: ESPN.com

I don't like ex-Patriots (except for Curtis Martin). Evans, McGinnest, Welker, Amendola, Harrison, and their former center that is now a tv host.

However, Amendola will arguably get less snaps here in Miami, get good rest in between plays, and hopefully become a 3rd down beast. Just move the chains baby….just move the chains….

He responded?? 61 catches for 650 yards and 2 TDs?

I know that was an ESPN quote, so no offense intended.

    Lord have freaking mercy.

    That's the average, yes.

This year's cap hit will be far below $14 million. And by the time the guarantees (which are small) run out, Miami can cut those players with little penalty.

Not like no one knows this, but IMO Gase and T-bum should be drug tested. They have no idea how to build a winner.

Yes, going from Jay Cutler to Ryan Tannehill translates to one fewer win.

This is all of you right now.

The real reason for the amendola signing is when we play the Cheatriots, line amendola up at CB and hope Brady will throw to him.

Guess Amendola is tired of playing extra games past December.

I am guessing Amendola will at least know his playbook and where and how to run his routes.

Chiefs didn't pursue Wilson because they were targeting Watkins, as they want to have more vertical threats for Mahomes big arm. They couldn't pay Sammy 16 and Wilson 8. And yes, Watkins is a better player than Wilson (Goff missed him a bunch of times when he was open last year), but I don't need all-stars at every position. I want them to sign good players with potential aka Wilson.

The bears and Nagy, who was the OC for the Chiefs last year, wanted Wilson FWIW.

I wish our front office would listen to the grades because more often than not our free agent deals end up in the D column.

Might be a little harder for him to get open since he won't know the exact defensive play that was called. His hands will also have to get used to a heavier football.

And he’ll have to get open with actual skill and not via a patented Patriot pick play.

Funny conspiracy theory to laugh at: Amendola is the first attempt in the Patriots plan to infiltrate other teams by inserting players directly into them. Amendola has won his rings with the pats, has tight relationship with pats players and coaches yet was looking to retire. Kraft and Belicheat pay him to go to "retirement miami" and initiate phase 1 of eternal NFL dominance. Keep you eyes peeled all lol.

Well let's see....(1) Watkins and Wilson don't play the same position, (2) Watkins is only going to count $8M against the Chief's salary cap this year, (3) Andy Reid has no viable slot receiver on his roster and its a huge part of his playcalling, (4) Albert Wilson was Mahomes' favorite target (see Denver game), and (5) Chief had over $21M in cap space as of last week and didnt even make Wilson a serious offer. What else is there?

With $40M in cap space, and being desperate for WR help, even the Bears weren't willing to spend $7M on Albert Wilson. What does that tell you?

It means we outbid them or sold him on playing in Miami instead of Chicago.

So we made a bad signing because somebody didn’t outbid us? I don’t necessarily agree with that.

It was reported the Bears “really wanted him.”

But I guess we’ll see this upcoming season.

Yes, but Watkins was a deep threat which fits Mahomes “gunslinger mentality”.

They obviously really wanted Watkins or they wouldn’t have offered him that much money. Wouldn’t you rather have Watkins over Wilson? I know I would.

I wouldn’t necessarily say one game shows that he was his favorite target. It’s a small sample size.

I also don’t get what Watkins cap hit this year has to do with anything. 1. We don’t even know Wilson’s yet and 2. Watkins got A LOT more guaranteed money. I can tell you that much.

No, we made a bad signing because we grossly overpaid for a slot receiver, and it was right after Tannenbaum made a statement that he wasn't going to overpay a slot receiver (see Jarvis Landry).

Again, this just reinforced my point. A former coach "really wanted him", he has $40M to spend, is desperate for WR help, yet didn't think he was worth $7M. What tells you that we got a good deal?

Big difference between 4-5 million a year for Wilson and $15 million for Landry.

Its ok to overpay Wilson by $4M but not overpay Landry by $4M? or Jawuan James? or any other player?

In terms of wasting cap, wasted money is wasted money.

OK serious question....has anyone actually watched Albert Wilson and thought he was worth $24M for 3 years?

No but it's the rate you pay for the players you want. We don't know what the Bears offered but they were pursuing him and maybe he preferred Miami.

Fair enough, but to me this isn't just a slight overpayment because of a competitive free agent market. Its just Tannenbaum wasting money where it doesn't need to be wasted. The good teams in this league don't make moves like that. This is why we will have to cut players again next year to get under the cap again.
