That was a helluva finish. Every time I've watched him I've been thoroughly impressed. He's the Joe Cool of college football, and I see no reason why he won't succeed at the professional level. Obviously all of us would love to have a QB like Carson Palmer. While it seems Leinart is not quite as physically gifted as Carson Palmer, he definitely makes up for it with an ultra-cool awareness. And the guy just finds a way to win. Who doesn't love that in a QB?

What do you guys think of Leinart? Would you consider trading up to the 1st or 2nd slot in the draft in order to obtain him (Assuming we draft somewhere between 5 and 16)? Why or why not?

I would trade up to get him, my best example of why I would be willing to trade up for a guy would be the Giants, and the Falcons who traded up for Vick I believe.

Is Lionheart that good or is it BUSh, White, and reciever Smith that make him look good , his o line is a amazing also so i really do not know if MAtt is that great

There have been a lot of QBs who put up great numbers in college, won almost every game they played (including a national championship or two) and yet still weren't great QBs in the NFL. Of the top of my head, and just staying in Florida, I'd include Ken Dorsey, Steve Walsh, Danny Wuerffel, Chris Weinke and Craig Erickson in that category. I don't think Leinart has the arm or the feet to be a top draft pick. He could still turn out to be a good NFL QB, but I wouldn't bet on it.

And there are lots of guys who won a ton of games, threw for a ton of yards, and went on to be great NFL QBs, too.

EXACTLY. Can he have that same "joe cool" attitude when the defense doesn't have to respect Reggie Bush and LenDale White? Can he do what he does at USC on a team like the 49ers, or the Texans? Personally, I don't think do. Take Reggie bush and LenDale White away and you see a totally different Leinart.

Considering what it would cost to trade up into the top 2 to get Leinart, under no circumstances would I take that risk. We would probably get off cheaper trading for Schaub in Atlanta who has at least some successful pro experience.

Guys don't act the same way as thye do in college. I aint saying that Leinhart will be bad, but I just got a feeling that he will think that he is the **** whenever he enters the NFL.

I'm obviously not suggesting that winning a ton of games and throwing for a ton of yards disqualify one from becoming a great NFL QB. But being "Joe Cool" in college on an extremely talented team does not ensure success in the NFL. What do you see in Leinart that so clearly distinguishes him from any of the guys I listed -- Dorsey, Erickson, Walsh, Weurffel, Weinke, etc. For that matter, add in Josh Heupel and Gino Toretta.

True. SO their are a lot of guys who played well and became busts, and a lot who played welll and did great in the NFL. Which to me makes Lienert a 50/50 shot. But then you factor in some other things.

1. There are questions marks about his arm and feet. He's not the pysical specimen a Carson Palmer was.

2. You lose draft picks to trade up for him.

3. You commit a large chunk of your salary cap to a guy that may or may not be the one.

4. There are enormous expectations and little patience from Dolphin fans.

For me there are too many doubts that make going for Lienert a high risk proposition. If we got him from where we stand to pick in the draft, of course I'd like Miami to get the guy. But we REALLY need our draft picks this year as we have so many holes to fill up for the future.

I'd be willing to get Leinart as long as it's affordable. He's got that Tom Brady vibe, not a physical specimen but loads of intangibles. They said that too of Peyton Manning, and I'm sure no team in the league would reject him just for that. Palmer and Leinart were like 1 and 1A, stats and record-wise. Houston seems to have a good shot at a top pick and they might be committed to Carr. If Miami can come up with a good package deal, the Texans might give up that high pick.

i beleive Leinart is gonna be good. great QB head on his shoulders. but i dont think hes right for us.
