I hate the title Czar. Lets just call the person Director of Football Operations. This person would report only to Ross.

My candidate is (Former UW coach & current AD) Barry Alvarez. He turned Wisconsin into a credible program. He is respected yet no nonsense. JT could be his #2.

Jeff, Joe, & the current offensive staff would go. In comes former Badger QB Darrell Bevell as HC. Keep Coyle but Bevell needs to bring someone from the Seahawks Defensive staff (Ken Norton Jr ??) to help implement Seattle's scheme in Miami.

There is ONLY one way the Dolphins can restore credibility and most people know what that is.

Ross has to sell the team

and to an owner who really LOVES & RESPECTS the NFL.

What is his connection to the organization? I do not want anyone brought here in that kind of role who is just here for the paycheck.

Get someone who is already connected to the team, whose name is etched into the stadium, who will get upset when the team loses for reasons beyond "Hey, this makes my job performance look bad."

I think there are many grizzled FO types out there that would take a shot at this gig. However, there are some rising stars out there that might see this as a nice opportunity. Marc Ross from the Giants is interesting.

Things will be fine IF the owner is willing to make the needed moves after the season.

Honor & loyalty? Pfffffff! This is 21st century America where its all about $ and ego.

If we're talking about a position that reports directly to the owner and is in the building day to day to act as a proxy, I absolutely want someone who has a little bit of 'give a damn' in them. That's why I've advocated Jason Taylor as a good candidate for such a role.

The look on his face at the end of that Bucs game told me he cares.

Alvarez is an interesting name. Guy has done a great job since becoming an AD. I just dunno if football czar is a good position from him

look, enough of this bringing guys onboard that have nothing vested in this franchise, or the city - enough interlopers! HIRE OUR GUYS!! former players with football knowledge and hometown cache. PEOPLE WHO CARE ABOUT & LOVE & HAVE A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP with our team. hire hometown.

I'm always big on hiring competence before anything else, but at this point we've bought in enough mercenaries (Parcells and JJ come immediately to mind) that I want someone who actually gives a damn. You never know, it might work.

Heck, if it's true that the only real evaluation Marino made when he was with the team was "draft Philip Rivers" then maybe we ought to see if Dan has changed his mind.

Just to add, I knew people aren't crazy about my idea of Kyle Shannahan, but it drives me nuts to see how he does things to get mismatches for guys like Garcon and Jordan Reed while we don't.
