Just think though, if Matt Leinart had decided to enter the Supplemental Draft, we would have absolutely gotten him for next year's first round pick. The Giants have Eli Manning...

NO WAY any team would have passed on Leinart if they had the chance.....they wouldn't even have to sign him, they could immediately trade his rights for a first rounder +.

He was the consensus to be the 1st player taken this year, so a team would have traded next year's first and then some to get the best player in this year's class (draft + supplemental)

Giants would have taken him if he were there and made any other suitors bid for him.

If that happened, the other teams very likely would have made them eat him until the price came down. You don't buy one highly paid young QB when you already have one.
