I have a contact (I will not say who it is or why he was there) was on the Dolphins sideline for this past weekend's game up at what he described as "Beautiful Paul Brown Stadium". He observed Coach Bates screaming his head off at defensive players and the players were screaming right back at him. I asked him which players and he said that he wasnt able to recall which ones were screaming (hint: not part of the dolphins organization and he isnt a dolphins fan)...he was angry at the fact that two or three players were needed to bring Rudy Johnson down, even though they limited him on the ground. When referring to certain plays made by CArson Palmer, this is where I got my only quote recalled from my contact. "The ROOK SHOULDN'T BE DOING THIS!!!" screamed Bates at some players.

I asked him about the offense and he said he was running back and forth and only observed what he shared with me.

I just have to say that some people in the past have pretty much crapped on Bates with the plays that are given up by this secondary. But after hearing this information, you can tell that the guy definitely is a perfectionist and was coaching his *** off. Look at how well the Dolphins defense did on Sunday and the guy was still livid!!

Anyone who's been to training camp the last few years can attest to the fact that Bates is easily our most vocal coach. So this doesn't surpise me in the least.

Also, I wouldn't be alarmed at the players screaming back. It's a game. And things get heated. Just like any tense situation. At least that's my feeling on the whole thing.

I'm curious.

Jim Bates coaches from the box during the game. He's not on the side lines.

I wonder if this person got Bates mixed up with another coach, or if he observed what looked like a heated conversation on the phone?

Backwards Forester is in the box, Bates is on the sidelines.

Nope. Both are in the box. They usually always show Bates in the box with his spit cup and a big dip in his lip.

I was thinking the same thing.

A little passion is what this team needs.Wade Smith plus a couple of other players looked like they were mailing it in.Somebody needs to get in their faces and chew them out.

I remember a couple of old timers talking about how they were afraid to mess up when Shula was the coach because they didnt want to be exposed to Shulas a$$ chewing.

This guy doesnt really follow the dolphins, so he couldve mixed it up with another coach...

I wouldnt post this if I didnt trust the source...

Don't you want 3 or 4 Dolphins bring down the ball carrier all the time??? I'd rather have the team swarming the ball rather than Zach making one on one tackles. It is what they teach from High School to the Pros.

He did mix him up with another coach...Bates is always in the Box......

Ask your contact to describe the guy cuz it's not Bates.
