Taking a break from Draft Mania; I noticed an odd stat about the Fins 3 most successful QBs: Dan Marino, Bob Griese, and Chad Pennington all have a 7.3 yards per pass attempt for their career average.
Here's how they stack up in other per pass or per game stats for their careers. Of course Chad's stats include his JETS years, while Dan and Bob were Dolphins only.
QB rating: CP 90.6, DM 86.4 BG 77.1
Completion Percent: CP 66.0 DM 59.4 BG 56.2
TD Percent: BG 5.6 DM 5.0 CP 4.2
INT Percent: CP 2.6 DM 3.0 BG 5.0
Yards per catch: BG 13.0 DM 12.4 CP 11.4
Yards per game: DM 253.6 CP 204.6 BG 155.9
That last stat is kind of interesting in that it reflects the types of teams they played on and the offensive strategies of those teams - as well as the offensive philosophies of the NFL as a whole. Bob didn't have to pass as much due to the running game while Dan carried the team on his back. Chad has played for teams that wanted to run first but had to fall back on his efficient passing when that failed.
