Look, I am not a DOlphins fan, obviously, and there is nothing I like more than seeing the Fish and the Pats lose......

However....I have been reading a lot of the posts here, and there seems to be a strong line between the people who believe in DC and those who dont. Well, this is what I think....

Culpepper has not shown much this year.....from what I have seen. Whether it is the injury, or the line, or Mularkey, who knows....the fact is, he is struggling for SOME reason....

The thing that sticks out to me is Joey Harrington. Now, I am not a JH fan, nor did I think he was any good while he was with the Lions....but the thing that gets me is the FIRE he played with in Preseason. I know I know, it was preseason. Well, DC did nothing in Preseason, and is STILL doing nothing.

HOWEVER, all I can remember is Joey running all over the field after TD throws acting like he just won the Superbowl. They call that HEART. The kid has it. Do I think he is better than Culpepper?...uh, NO. Do I think he could be a BETTER FIT for the Dolphins???.....ABSOLUTELY.

I know ONE thing about QB's....sometimes they are not as bad as they seem to be. Case in point....JP Losman. Sure JP is NOT Carsen Palmer, but he wasnt as bad as he looked either. Well what is different? MIKE MULARKEY....you cant deny it.

Some QB's fit certain schemes better than others.....I think Joey is a QB that fits the Fish schemes better than DC. No way to know for sure, but a few more losses, and you guys may find out.

I agree. Joey is not a better QB than Culpepper. But for now, with this o-line he is a better fit. He's healthier which for now gives him more mobility, and has a quicker release. Besides, if C-Pepp is our future, let's try not to get him killed until we make some changes on the line.

Bingo!

Exactly what I've been saying, JH just might be another Steve Young. Remember how SY sucked all those years with the Bucs, then turned into a HOF QB with the 49ers? What if JH turned out that way? And we didn't give him a chance to show it? I say let DC keep playing until we get 8 losses, then put in Joey and see what he's got. If he turns into a SY think of the trade value we'd have, either trading JH or (God forbid?) even trading DC if JH turned into a great QB.

Once we are out of the playoff picture (and sad to say that's likely the way we're playing) we should at least give Joey a chance to show us what he's got.

I disagree with your statement.
CP is slowly getting better and by the next time Dolphins vs Bills come along... It payback time for Daunte.

Yeah Daunte is getting better. After all we put up 15 points against the league's worst defense.

Funny that you bring up Steve Young....

Anyone aware of how many EX BUC QB's have rings???

Doug Williams
Steve Young
Trent Dilfer

And how many went on to have pretty decent careers???

Testaverde
Chandler

There's more, but I cannot think of them now.

ANYWAYS....Point being...

Some QBs do better in different schemes than others.

i agree with the bills fan ....please dont tell anyone

I actually don't think DC is getting any better. I just think you've been playing worst teams the last 2 weeks. Then again I might be wrong

yeah some good observations i to want joey to atleast have a chance on the field to show us what he has and see wether he has the ability to turn this team into a winning one

IMO you are right on the money. Unfortunately, it appears there are many fans on finheaven who are like battered wives. Their husband beats the hell out of them and everyone else sees the guy sucks, but when it is pointed out to her she gets mad and replies, "I really love him and he has so much potential. It isn't his fault. He used to be...blah, blah, blah." So welcome to the Daunte Culpepper battered wives club.

Of course, eventually after enough abuse she might wake up. Or maybe not, but in the meantime it is excuse after excuse after excuse. Denial is an amazing thing. So be careful about what you say about their man.

comparing joey harrington to HOF steve young: OUCH! Steve Young was arguably the greatest "running" QB ever. Joey did not "attempt" one scramble or run during the preseason. not close by a mile

As much as I'm open to an outside opinion (although obviously not unbiased), the cold hard fact is that the Phins have a lot invested in CPep and they are going to give him AT LEAST half or more of the season to turn things around. If by mid-season or slightly after, he's still struggling and we're sitting at 1-7 or 2-8, we very well may see JH in the starting lineup, as what will Nick have to lose? I just don't see them giving CPep all season to try and break out of this. I think he'll improve somewhat as the season goes along (he'll get better, but the line won't), but it will be limited due to line and play-calling issues. If it was just a matter of him playing poorly, that would be one thing, but with O-line issues and questionable play-calling, I just don't see him having too many (if any) 300 yd 3TD games. Hey at this point, a 225 yd, 2 TD game would be a huge improvement.

Yeah DC did nothing in the preseason: 73% complete 218 yds 93.5 QB rating with only 2 sacks. While Harrington completed 53.6 % 292 yds 80.4 QB rating with 4 sacks. I like my chance with Culpepper.

We should have benched (rested CPs knee) starting last week for this 3 game stretch and given JH a shot. My fear is Saban's arrogance will force him to stick with CP until its too late to salvage anything this season. Don't worry we won't be seeing JH anytime soon Nick's got a little Gruden in him he's just smarter than everyone else on the planet.
