Let's break down each and everyone of the dolphins rivals for this upcoming starting from weaks 1-4:
week 1: at pittsburgh the first game of the season, primetime and against the world champions, what else can ge ask for?? this is our best chance to make an impression and to demonstrate our late 6game winning streak last season was not a fluke, that we're for real. this may easily turn to be the toughest game of the season. they have very few weakneses. the key will be to stop the run and force big ben to win the game with his arm. with no randle el causing explosive plays and no jerome bettis gaining the 1 or 2 yarder they may lack some punch offensively. defensively is where they are one of the best in business. numbers tell me they are vulnerable against the pass(16th last season) their corners (taylor, townsend)are good at best but they know how to play the system and beneficiate form the constant pressure created by others to make some plays. expect them to blitz early and often. they will test either cpep or joey(specially cpep since he is coming form a serious injury, they will try to make sure he is not comfortable at all in his return). the steelers have a great team but let's not forget they were not that good early last season, they got the last wildcard spot just because they won the last 4 games against teams with no offense at all(chicago, minnesota, cleveland, detroit)
and they they got hot at the right time. if cpep is healthy enough to play(which I think will happen) we have a very decent chance at winning our first game of the season in as many tries. expect a close game with not many points. this game will be decided through the air and not the run. the team with the Qb that comitts the fewest mistakes will be the winner.
week 2: buffalo the bills are not in a postion to compete against us, at least not this year and maybe not in a few more. they have a new coach, new Gm,and they let core players go(moulds, adams, milloy..). offensively they are a mess, with no o-line talent(they allowed 43 sacks last season) and with absolutely no one capable of doing a decent job at the Qb position. defensively they were 31th against the run and they did nothing notable to get better in that area. expect ronnie brown to have a career day against them with numbers such as 150+ yards and 2 Td's.
we win this easily and by a large margin.
week 3: tennesse the titans are a team in rebuilding mode. they have young players and they made some great additions via free agency and draft but they still have many questions marks. the first and most important is who will be the Qb? volek can get the job done and he has developed some chemistry with bennett, and now with givens they have some nice weapons. expect bennett and givens to create some trouble to our secondary with troupe doing his thing over the middle. the o-line is in good shape and they allowed just 31 sacks last season despite the inestability and changes made last season. defensively they are still very weak and are vulnerable both against the run and the pass. last season we rushed for 192 yards against them so expect more of the same with ronnie having a great game for the second consecutive game. also daunte will get a better chance to show what he can do with his arm against 2nd year corners jones and hill.
expect a win again but it won't be as easy as we think.
week 4: at Houston the texans are back. last time we faced them, they beat us in the opener 4 years ago( with capers as their coach by the way). this time it will be alot different. let me analyze this a little: the texans allowed last season the most sacks(68) and the dolphins had the 2nd most sacks(49) mmm.. does that tell u anything??? it certainly tells alot to me. knowing kubiak's tendencies they will challenge our D by running the ball many times and from all angles for 2 reasons: to prevent the dolphins from blitzing and to setup the play-action. the key will be to stop the run early. offensively we'll face a mess of a defense that ranked 31th last season. they were last against the run so what does that tell you??? ronnie brown may have another big day!! a career day?? posibly. we win this game again by a large margin.
at this point we could be very easily 4-0 or 3-1
