Being that we really only have one true starter at cornerback, when I keep hearing the news of corner after corner signing with new teams and our own beloved Dolphins in desperate need of one, it left me a little perplexed. I wonder what the f*** is our front office doing. I mean come one we got to face Moss, Welker, Owens, Evans, Cocthery and that's just in our division but then it hit me. I was trying to make logical as to why our front office didn't sign any of these free agent corners and this is my theory. Who has the best defense in the league? Nope not the Ravens it the defending Superbowl champion Steelers. Looking at their defense you see how they are so dominating. Like Pittsburgh, we also use a 3-4 defense. They pressure the QB with relentless play from the outstanding pass rush ala Harrison & Woodley. I feel Parcells think Porter and Wake can play these roles on our defense, I know stating the obvious right, but I know what your thinking what does this have to do with corner. Then I thought why didn't the Steelers re-sign McFadden and here is the reason. They have Ike Taylor who is extremely similar player to Will Allen but they have two monster at their safety position (Polamalu & Clark) who put the fear of God in their opponents. We sign Gibril Wilson and re-signed Yeremiah Bell. Parcells thinking is probably that he hoping these WR's test our beasts and what they'll get is JACKED UP. We will definitely draft a corner and most likely sign someone cheap along the lines of (Bly, Surtain, McAllister). Here is some stats to back up my theory.

Last year games

Pitt vs NE: Moss 4 catches 45 yards 0 TDs
Welker 4 catches 30 yards 0 TDs

Pitt vs Dal: Owens 3 catches 33 yards 1 TD
Roy Williams 2 catches 17 yards

Those are not staggering numbers by any means.

They'll do something about it, the off season is far from over. Apparently this FO doesen't think free agency is the way to get our cornerback, that's all.

I am totally for signing either Dre Bly or Deltha Oneil. As far as the draft noone stands out to me other than Vontae Davis and we will not be able to get him. I kinda like the CB Love out of Arkansas

Why all the CB threads? every 15 min theres a new thread stating the same thing?

Tuna knows more anyone, I will have faith in him until he gives me reason not to

Half as good as who the Steelers, let me throw some stats your way homie.

Last year we were #1 in pass defense 135 ypg without Wilson
# 3 in total defense w/ 286 ypg both ahead of the Steelers and # 11 against the rush so sorry to inform you but get your facts straight before you speak out your @ss.

These are the regular season stats. Pit led the league in Total D and Passing D. 2nd in Rushing D. We didn't crack top five in any of the 3.

Every single one is stating how we dont have a CB, why cant you post it in a thread that is already covering the issue?

That would be a great comparison if our D even remotely performed like the Steelers. Our pass rush is non existent. Porter had a good year but played terribly at the end. Our 2nd biggest sack threat had 5 sacks. I see what everyone wants us to do and how the 3-4 is supposed to be played but when we cant get to the QB consistently our CB have no chance to cover anyone. Will Allen is good but not great. And Jason Allen is a joke. None of the other guys we have could cover Wilford. Bottom line is if we dont get a good CB in the draft then we are in a world of crap. BOdden for 750k was a deal of the century. And Mcfadden for 5 was a good deal too. We dont have a good enough D to not go to FA to get what we need. We need another LB a youner NT and def a CB or 2. With the level of talent at WR just in the AFC East that should have let the Genuis we call Parcells know that we need secondary help. Everyone can say we are ok and BP knows what he is doing but when Brown signed with STL for 1 million more a year than Grove got and the only guy we picked up was Wilson we are not ok. Grove is only good for about 9 games a year. He has only played a full season 1 time in his career . He is a bum.

Exactly spend spend and spend some more on crap

$750,0000 a yr is not much to spend on someone who could have been our #2 cb, im all for not overpaying mediocre players but boddens deal, give me a break, how can we not beat thator at least make an offer, there is no rookie we can draft at 25 that would have been a huge upgrade over bodden and guess what? that rookie @ 25is sure as hell gonna cost more than 750 g's with the contracts first picks have been gettin thats a promise. so spend spend spend on crap really doesant aply to this situation.
