I read thisin the Herald:

Similarly, a pass interference penalty on Andre' Goodman kept the Steelers' second touchdown drive alive. It was third-and-8 from the Dolphins' 30 when Goodman hooked Wilson's arm as Wilson tried to escape down the left sideline.
''It's one of those things,'' Goodman said. ``They want to get more offense in the game. The more points you have, the more fans like it. It makes our position a little bit tougher.''

I have to say I am very disappointed to hear Andre say that. I watched the play. I love the Phins. I watched his hook Wilson's arm and obviously interfere (read: commit a penalty) on the play. I would hope and expect a real leader, and a great player to admit what they did then work to improve the next time. Instead, I read Goodman's quote blaming the rules and officiating for his ill-timed, ill-conceived decision. Man up, step up, and take responsibility when you make a mistake, Andre.

He said in his interview earlier this week that he approaches the game trying to be the best cornerback possible. I don;t see how someone who hides from admitting his own mistakes can ever be that.

Disappointing.

I watched the play a couple of times during the game because I was already using the DVR to catch up due to other commitments. I think what he's getting at is that the receiver started the hand checking. When you have a ball well past both of them and the receiver is the guy who starts the physical stuff, it seems very wrong to me to flag the defensive back.

The reciever did initiate contact first but there was no reason for Goodman to continue to hook the recievers arm. It's one thing to play aggressivly and it's another to make stupid mistakes. Goodman had good coverage and I doubt that pass would have been a completion.

I also thought the reciever faked the impact of the hold somewhat, but I cant fault him for that.

Yeah, this was one of the few penalties in the game that was legit. He didn't need to hook his arm like that. The receiver was overthrown anyway. Goodman made a mental mistake on that one.

The kicker is that they went to commercial break after that penalty. During the break, they showed Hines Ward commercials. Then, they came back just in time to show the Steelers snap the ball and throw it to Ward for a TD. It was almost like it the media had pre-written the script like that.

Goodman was covering Ward on that play as well. It was right after the pass interference and his head was messed up from it. It was nice to see Zach Thomas run over and pop Ward after the catch just so he didn't get that TD standing. But the damage was already done.

Aside from those two plays, Goodman played well.
