time for something new. lets see what you guys think about his future in miami. last year he was coming off something like 2 reconstructive surgeries on his knees, so he was a bit off last year to say the least. but the year before, when we were dope in pass and run coverage, he was one of the league leaders in terms of the percentage of balls caught that were thrown to the receiver that he was covering. (dont know if i worded that right, but receivers he was covering only caught like 30% of the balls thrown to them)
i remember thinking how bright his future was in miami, then the injuries came. what do we think of this guy, pretty much disregarding last years performance? keep him? trade him? we need cornerbacks desperately. daniels is too slow and really should be a safety. lehan is garbage. whats the word?

Andre Goodman, meet Yatil Green. Yatil Green, meet Andre Goodman.

you guys are overreacting. Goodman was our best DB until Will Allen decided to show up. Goodman is an above-average player that we have for relatively-inexpensive money. Just because he suffered an injury does not mean you cut him and go elsewhere.... especially when finding good DBs is such a rare thing these days.

come on now. not the same at all. yatil was actually drafted by us and sucked due to injuries. goodman was a pickup and played really well until the injuries. besides the fact that one was a receiver and the other a corner. if he fully recovers, i actually want to keep him. good attitude and locker room presence (his teammates really like him) and if cheap could be good. i see him on our roster next year if healthy, just maybe not starting.

He should have a chance to compete, I would like to keep him as he does have Talent.

Head to head, I would take Goodman over Lehan.

BTW, Wasn't it his Shoulder that had reconstructive surgery last off season?

How about they're the same in that they played for the Dolphins, battled through extensive knee injuries, and never really got the chance to shine that they should have? That works for me, because that's what I was alluding to.

He did play well in 06, but that doesnt mean we cant upgrade the position... with an upgrade we would be that much better

Andre Goodman's injury was a shoulder injury that he re-injured and had to have surgury on twice.

It is the last year of his contract and he may have some trade value to a team like AZ or the Bengals. The Cardinals stand to lose three of their corners to free agency. They will draft one or two for sure but they could probably use a seasoned veteran as well.

We might get a 6th or a 7th for him.

The plan for the Dolphins at CB should be to draft Vontae Davis in the 09 draft and trade Will Allen after the draft. He will be like 32 or something by then.

yeah i know. but yatil never got the chance to be good. and goodman was good before the injuries. in other words, yatil was a bust where goodman wasnt. besides that, word riggs.

that would also be wrong as they have absolutely NOTHING in common save for they both played for the Miami Dolphins.

Goodman has had plenty of playing time and did well while he was on the field. I don't understand how you're drawing these two cases together.

While Goodman did have a chance to play and had some success at the position, he's certainly the definition of injury prone. We can't count on him being on the team at any particular time. We've gotta get someone younger and better at that position through the draft, or by some miracle find Trufant is willing to sign for cheap with us.

Goodman didn't suffer knee injuries. He suffered shoulder injuries.

He was surprisingly good in 2006, but was really very poor in 2007. Not sure if it is due to the injury or not. He and Michael Lehan were definite weak links. In all likelihood, Miami should draft two guys relatively high, sign Jacques Reeves, and be rid of Lehan and Goodman. Will Allen had a great year.

Todd Bowles brings interceptions wherever he goes. I tallied up the interception counts of secondary players during the two years' prior to Bowles' arrival to the Jets, Browns and Cowboys...and then compared it with the interception averages from defensive backs during Bowles' tenure. Todd Bowles' presence is literally worth 4 extra interceptions and an extra defensive touchdown. His DBs may not be perfect in coverage, but they snatch the ball extremely well.

I would look for Jason Allen to pick off 5 or 6 passes. I wouldn't be surprised if Will Allen ties for the most interceptions he's ever had in a season, either (4).

I suppose Lehan may still hang onto the roster as a 5th CB...he's played under Bowles before I think.

You don't trade away one of your best corners with a low cap-hit. Considering the injuries we have and how hard it is to find good guys, you keep someone like Goodman. If we're going to upgrade the position, we replace a guy like Lehan on the other side... OR if you want to really do some surgery on the secondary you find ANY SS in FA to play for us and bring in a FS to challenge Jason Allen.
