After watching NFL replay last night, I noticed that on the play where Rex Grossman hit Gage on a deep pass and both Goodman and Bell played deep, Goodman kind of just stood around and watched Bell tackle Gage, instead of flying to the ball and helping out with the tackle....

I also noticed that J. Allen stated that when he intercepted the ball he heard Goodman say "pitch it back to me"...

This kind of bothers me. Goodman's performance has not been up to par. I don't know how much longer we can win with him starting as our CB.

I've always like Goodman. I actually thought he would turn out to be one of our impact players, but I am realizing I may have been wrong.

Goodman has the speed, and is probably one of our fastes , if not, the fastest CB on our roster, but he continues to commit alot of penalties. Almost as if he has a hard time playing the ball, as opposed to playing the WR with his speed.

I hope he improves if we plan to make a good late run.....:shakeno:

I think he's been playing pretty well. He did fly to the ball after the tackle, but I think the play we were playing zone in.

The whole pitch it back to me thing, defenders do it all the time.

Seemed to workout pretty well for Ed Reed this week. Andre Goodman has been playing pretty well and when he said pitch it back he just wanted to make a play.

I dont really find a problem with the way Andre Goodman has been playing. He seems to play on the ball very well to me and jumps on a lot of plays. Sometimes he does make big mistakes such as the game verse the Jets when he tried to jump on a cut by Laverneus Coles but it was a fake cut and Coles went deep for the easy TD reception.

If you should be upset witht he performance of a cornerback, be upset with Will Allen. I would say Will Allen had to be one of our worst offseason acqusitions, as he has not really made a play for the team yet. He has 1 INT if I am correct and that INT came after he left the receiver catch the ball but then stripping the ball form the receiver's hands afterwards. He does not read the receiver well and is consistently caught on.

First off, that was Eddie Jackson who was burned on that play by Coles. Goodman had to go out of the game with a shoulder injury.

I've been happy with Goodman's play. He plays the ball pretty well. He's had 2 shaky PI (illegal contact) penalties called on him which I thought were very ticky-tacky at best.

Will Allen's definitely the fastest corner on our team. He can fly. I've been impressed with Will Allen's coverage on short/medium/intermediate routes. But his problem has always been his "play-making" abilities and ability to cover the deep ball. The same problems we're seeing with him. I think Will Allen is a great #2 CB, and I'd love to keep Andre as the nickel in the slot. We just have to find that #1 CB for this team.

you are wrong bro..he's not all that bad. He's not the best cover guy, but Sabans system won't have him man on man without deep help very often. The other aspects of his game are a serious upgrade on Sammy.

He is an adequate cover guy, and pretty good everything else guy. IMO

Sorry about the mixup with andre goodman and eddie jackson. well I still think Andre is better than Wil Allen. He reacts too slow to many plays to me. He seems to wait on things to happen before jumping on it. And as far as penalties go, he seems to always give up a big play whether it be by letting the receiver catch the ball because he does not look up for the ball such as the TD catch by Mushin Muhammad in the Bears game or by committing a long penalty. I cant think of any exact instances of long penalties but he has committed atleast 2 or 3 long pass interference penalties.

Feedback?

It's cool no worries bro. The play with Mushin wasn't a bad play on Will's part, IMO. It was a great throw, and Mushin pushed off, not once, but TWICE on that play. Will Allen still managed to be right there. He has been called on 2 big penalties (The PI against Buffalo, and the PI against the Patriots I believe). I like Will. I think our DBs (with Andre in the game over Travis) are better matched for Saban's scheme.

Yeah I know about push off but I still think that it i too often, Will Allen looks to just stick his hand where he thinks th ball will be instead of looking up for it. I really would mind seeing a little of more of Jason Allen in the games, maybe at corner instead of up at safety when he is in. But Hey it's not my decision. I would just like to see some of this first round draft pick.

Goodman is not a starting corner. He is a horrid tackler and doesnt really fly to the ball. This guy is Nickel/Dime nothing more

I agree about will and his head. The guy is a great tackler and good with run support but he doesnt get his head around on alot of plays and seems to have some zone coverage inconsistancies.

I don't understand what your analysis is based on.

Goodman is no worse than the #29 we had the last two years. He has impressed me thouroughly and I would have to say he has been our biggest value player other than Wes Welker. We got this guy for relatively cheap and I dont see him much. (Which is a good thing when you are a corner back, means you are not getting picked on or beat regularly). Plus when I have seen him he has broke the play up more often than there is an offensive catch.

So far he has been far more than we could have asked for.

CB play hasn't been the problem. It's been the safeties and that was evident with the turnaround this past Sunday.

 Well said.

You are absolutely right aobut Will Allen. He has very good short/medium/intermdiate coverage skills, but although he has excellent speed he struggles with deep routes. What I like most about Will Allen, is his ability to provide run support. Whenever they run the ball to his side, he seems to be always1 in the play. A lot of times he makes the tackle with minimum to no gain on the play. Besides Patrick Surtain, he's one of the most physical tackles I've seen in a long time on our team.

Allen would be a great #2 CB. We just need to find a #1 CB now. Our best bet in finding one is through the draft and developed him. It's close to impossible to get one through free agency. Andre Goodman would be an excellent nickle, probably better than (don't shoot me) Travis Daniels :couch:. I like Goodman's speed over Daniels, but I think Daniels is more physical than Goodman.

hmmm, I never viewed Pat as a "feared" hitter...
