I don't know if anyone noticed, but Andre Reed was included on a list of players that are likely going to be admitted next season into the Hall of Fame.

My question is do you think Reed is more worthy that Mark Clayton? I realize I'm a bit of a Dolphin homer, but without even looking at the stats, I'm a believer that Clayton deserves it as much as Reed.

Clayton has a bit more than half as many yards as Reed and about the same amount of TDs.

Well, in 5 fewer years in the league Clayton posted almost 9000 yards and 84 touchdowns. Only 4000 yards, 3 tds and 13 fewer fumbles than Reed who played 16 years.

So, in my oppinion... Clayton should go before Reed. He was more productive for the amount of time he played.

Here come the Bills fans...3...2....1..

I think Clayton is worthy of the HOF, but it will be a while. A LOOOOOOOOOOONG while.

Let's take a look.

Andre Reed

Rec Yds Avg TD
951 13,198 13.9 87

Mark Clayton

Rec Yds Avg TD
582 8,974 15.4 84

Just for fun.

Lynn Swann

Rec Yds Avg TD
315 4,991 15.8 51

Clayton was a great player, but considering Art Monk, Michael Irvin, Andre Reed, Cris Carter and other great recievers soon to be inducted i dont see Clayton getting in any time soon, he does have worthy numbers but he wont get in a head of those guys.

Everyone has amazing numbers at WR nowadays. The hall is just now starting to feel the impact of the rule changes in the mid-80's. It's only going to get worse. When looking at numbers you need to realize that for his final two years Reed was a backup while another year he was injured and only had 24rec's. His stats for his last two years were 52 rec 536 yds. 10.3 avg. 1 TD and 10rec. 103yds. 10.3avg. and 1TD.

With all the big numbers by WR's no one's really a lock right now except rice. I mean Art Monk hasn't gotten in yet! Monk was awesome! A lot of voters will say that Clayton's success was partly due to the fact that Miami threw almost every down. Reed was just crazy go nuts good, weird though, he wasn't really fast (Lofton and Beebe were our speed threats) but also wasn't a possession guy. He was just a great all around reciever like Hines Ward is now.

Reed goes before Clayton imo and he deserves to.

Clayton was in a passing offense, Reed wasn't. Difficult to compare. Can't believe I'm siding with Reed. Actually, I think Reed should only be borderline allowed in, he was good but not HOF good. WIth same logic, neither of them belong in the HOF.

Of course he is, its Mark Clayton's first season:rofl3:
just kiddin:)

I think they both deserve to get there. Might be some time tho before Clayton gets there.

i would say Reed cuz he has more yards and was a productive guy but CLayton will be in maybe a few years thought. but if clayton played 16 seasons he would get in b4 reed
