Franks

Undrafted rookie kicker Andrew Franks has beat out Caleb Sturgis as the Dolphins new kicker, the Palm Beach Post has learned.
Franks played for Division III Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute last year. Sturgis was a fifth-round draft pick for the Dolphins in 2013 but struggled in two seasons with Miami.
Miami now has an undrafted rookie kicker and punter. The Dolphins released punter Brandon Fields earlier this week for Matt Darr.

Daytona broke the news which is positive if you ask me.

Seen enough of that other guy to know he wasn't in our future.

I can't understand why Sturgis struggled so much. But he was a weak spot. Hopefully he's got more in him and will catch on someplace else and straighten things out.

I like Franks. but I could see us going with Novak if he will take less than he made last year

Can't say I'm not nervous with an all-rookie kicking team with Darr and Franks for the season.. Darr has shown he's well capable so far. Did Franks earn it or did Sturgis lose it? I honestly haven't been keeping too close an eye on the kicking competition.

Same here. If a free agent with playoff experience comes available they may go in another direction.
Regardless at this time Franks is the guy and he won it in competition so good luck to him.

Happy about this. Can't do worse than "worst FG % accuracy" over past two years combined.

Weren't Fields and Carpender rookies when we went with them ? That turned out ok so hopefully this will too.

Frank's made his FG's and kicked off deep into the end zone every time so he won it.

This ****ing terrifies me. He wasnt even good in college

Means little, Sturgis was awesome early on.

Until the Baltimore game when his out of bounds kick off probably cost us the win.
I had absolutely no confidence when Sturgis took the field.

Franks may or may not be the long term answer but I know Sturgis was not.
