After seeing Luck new deal making him the highest paid player in the NFL, what does this mean if anything for Tannehill?

Does he feel slighted by the Fins front office for a deal not fitting of a franchise QB?

Obviously, Luck has had far more success than Tannehill.

Interesting to see if Tannehill camp starts looking for more money down the road if we make playoffs this year. Could wreck havoc on the cap structure which is already a bit mushy with Suh on the books and Jones looking for a monster pay day.

-----------------------------

Andrew Luck with a new 5 Year / $140 Million / $87 Guaranteed which is the largest contract in NFL history.

Ryan Tannehill 4 Year / $96 Million / $45 Guranteed

-----------------------------

Update on my side, just went through Aaron Rodgers and Cam Newton's deals. All are around 5 Year / $110-120 / $40-50 Guaranteed. Irsay must be on the molly with this stupid contract.

The next contract for Russel and Newton will be scary.

Non issue/off-season

How is that deal not fitting for a franchise qb? It's like 19 mil per yr....

Luck's averages out to 28 million... Sweet Jesus. I don't think he has earned that pay day yet personally, not saying he isn't extremely good, but that is insane. The colts will have a lot of fun trying to sign other players that's for sure

best move this teams made in 20 years was to sign tannehill to that contract

It is pretty laughable to think that Tannehill would have any disgust with his current deal.

Well if Tannehill takes us to the AFC Championship this year (theoretical), his agent will argue he should be getting the same deal as Luck.

Hell, If I'm Aaron Rodgers or Cam Newton, my agent better be getting me more guaranteed money since Luck's is double.

answer to ops question is yes tannehills representation will come looking for a redo of his current deal in the next 2 max 3 years

and Miami will do it with arms opened wide

Honestly, how much bigger do you think that deal would of been if we waited another year, coming off the 2015 campaign? It would not of been much bigger once you factor in him still on the rookie deal in year 4 w/o the signing bonus addition.

BTW I agree, not on the 20 years part, but the forsight in locking up what you perceive to be your franchise QB.

Interesting to see the cap moves needed to give Tannehill a Luck type contract in 2 years, Jones mega deal next off season, maneuver Suh monster contract. I assume Landry is due up in 2 years.

teams always make it work for qbs...they'd cut the entire roster for a qb if he's good enough

tannehill will get a max deal on his next contract...I have no doubts...unless injury fells him...top 5 type qb money whenever he signs it...

I mean now you are talking hypothetically . . . Cam Newton got what many people considered "too much" when he signed his deal . . . A year later it is not enough . . . The deal we gave Ryan was fair on both ends and just like any player in the NFL if he outplays it the team will further extend or guarantee more money.

Lets cross that bridge first.

Hell I hope he does . . . Means good things for the Dolphins.

don't kid yourselves either...Miami got a steal out of that contract...his play to date is worth that level of play he's been paid by nfl qb terms...if he starts clicking off 3 to 1 td to int ratios and 30 plus tds and still a less than 1 percent bad decision rating grade etc there's no chance in hell Miami parts with him

and he's not that far off from meeting that 3 to 1 td to int number...

he could be a yearly 32 and 8 guy in the near future...you don't let that get away
