I think you are being short sighted.

THe Lions have sucked for many years and have had tons of top draft picks yet they continued to suck for many years. Going 1-15 or 0-16 gaurantees you nothing except bottom feeder status. Do you want the phins to be the new Lions/Bengals?

We went 1-15 several years ago and outside of one miracle season we have remained a struggling team. That is what being a bad team gets you.

I would gladly trade all of the idiots I said in my original post for two players--Mathew Stafford and Calvin Johnson.

We are more then halfway there already.

Whether Andrew Luck is a bust is not the point. You have to take that chance when going for your franchise QB. In 2009, there was debate amongst fans and media should the Lions go after Stafford, or play it safe with Aaron Curry or Jason Smith. Martin Mayhew made the right choice and now look at the Lions. They finally got a franchise QB and they have become a real threat in just 2 years. The Dolphins had a franchise QB staring them in the face in 2008 and blew it and look at them now.

This is not about whether or not the guy busts it's about making the right move to try and fill the most important position on the field. FYI, Luck is the highest tauted QB coming out since Peyton Manning. His bust potential is extremely low and whoever gets him is mst likely going to be very successful in a short time.

The point everyone is missing about the Lions is that they canned their idiot Gm and got a real coach....2 yrs later they are relevant again, almost dominant.

This season is a wash. Best thing that can happen is to get a top 5 pick and a decent HC. 9 times out of 10 a new HC will draft a QB that he either lives or dies with.

If the Lions had not drafted receivers in the 1st for 3 straight years they may have been better a lot quicker.
