Cameron Has The Look Of A Winner
January 22, 2007
If first impressions are any indication, Cam Cameron is the right man for the job.

No, he doesn’t come with the pedigree of previous Dolphins coaches. Nick Saban had a national championship at LSU. Jimmy Johnson had a couple of Super Bowl wins. Dave Wannstedt had been Coach of the Year with the Bears.

But maybe a sexy, big-name choice is no longer the answer. Maybe what the Dolphins need is exactly what Cameron provides. The first offensive mind to hold this position in Dolphins history. A man who clearly has left his ego at the door. A tireless worker who specializes in building quarterbacks. A head coach who knows his place and that place is working with, not in charge of, the personnel department.

I love the article and I agree with most of the statements, but I have to ask something. Has Cohen ever written a negative article on the official website?

i don't think so, but it is always nice for a little optimism.

little optimism=helps you think positive about your team.
too much optimism= completely delusional in a obvious way. see knicks radio broadcasters

Do you think the official Miami Dolphins home page would have a negative article featured?

Awesome article. Andy Cohen is great... Even at the worst times in this franchise, he is always so positive...

great article we hired a winner and we will win under cameron.

Cohen really writes his opinions. Hes blasted ricky, wanny, and speilman before. he's blasting Saban now. He doesnt write journalistic 'fluff' just so the dolphin fans have something positive to think about.

im sure its the guys opinion even if its very positive.....im excited that we finally have an offensive mind......it may work and he may be the best decision this franchise has made.....i like it cause the guy doesnt come with all the accolades of say JJ and Saban.....the man has to prove himself and i think that will motivate him to work harder and succeeding where so called better head coaches of the past didnt...El Camaron Enchilado

This is an example of when a guy tells me "And, believe me, I’m not an easy sell."

...and I don't believe him at all.

This is a lovefest article. The media were bound to love all over this guy in the wake of Saban's leaving, especially the way Huizenga has had the whole organization emphasizing the importance of the press.

I'll tell you the basics.

1. We needed an offensive coach to give us the best shot of winning now.

2. Cam Cameron is one of the best offensive coaches out there.

3. His record at Indiana was bad (0.329), but so too was Lee Corso's (0.376), Sam Wyche's (0.273), Bill Mallory's (0.473), Gerry DiNardo's (0.229), and Terry Hoeppner's (0.416). Indiana is like the Vanderbilt of the Big 12. It's not as big a deal as some would make of it.

4. He was, however, a one-dimensional coach at Indiana. If we ever have to deal with a situation where Cam is our head guy and we don't necessarily have great vision on the defensive coaching staff? We could be in trouble. Capers is as big a part of the Cameron hiring as Cameron.

5. Mueller was as big a part of the Cameron hire as either Cameron or Capers. If he doesn't pipe in the right talent (and I have my doubts about him) then we could be in trouble.

We'll see how this goes. I don't think Cameron is as humble as the press are trying to say right now. I don't think he's as smooth as they are trying to say right now.

But if he can coach the heck out of our offense it probably won't matter.

I don't mind some positive spin. He's not too gushy. With all the negativity this off-season I can deal w/ this article.
