Great read.

Here's an excerpt:

Six of the nine players selected by the Dolphins in the draft were linemen – three on offense, three on defense. This is no mere coincidence. This is the way Bill Parcells has constructed football teams all of his coaching career and this is the way Parcells, General Manager Jeff Ireland and Coach Tony Sparano are doing it here as well.

The philosophy makes a lot of sense. Winning starts up front. Everything else feeds off of that. If you check back to what Parcells did his first year in Dallas, it’s the same thing. While it may not be the sexiest thing to do from a public standpoint, it is probably the smartest.

The days of looking for a quick fix for this franchise are thankfully over. Instead, it is most important that the right long-term plan be firmly in place. And this draft served as the ground floor for that plan, a clear indication that we are now dealing with decision-makers who are comfortable knowing that their jobs will not be judged on instant gratification.

I think the differance this season as opposed to last is the much higher level of competition at almost every position. Intensity and hard work is the only way too earn a spot here this year. :D

i agree with all the competion because we are so deep at positions there will be competion to push the veterans and rookies and make them more prepared and dedicated and want to start.

great read and i think its what most agree on. we are rebuilding, but i think give us 1-2 more seasons and we could have a great young team.

Good read and I think Andy is right on target...building from the ground up is the best way to help this team become great again.Oh my Lord,I just agreed with a sportswriter.

I am probably in the minority here, but I can't sift through Andy's articles anymore. Not once have I ever heard anything negative coming from this guy. All last off-season he was talking about how the Dolphins are prime for a great run, new regime is just what we need, Beck's the future, Trent was a great pick-up, etc.

I know a sportswriter for a team is supposed to be positive, but his articles border on nauseating with over-confidence. There's a point where you can be too optimistic..

We drafted well this year and last year, but this year's free agents are superior to last years without a doubt. This article states the obvious ... but it's correct at least.

True...but it's a nice break from reading stuff that constantly bashes the Dolphins.

If someone never has anything negative to say about a team, even when the team has the second-worst season in NFL history, there's something wrong there. When I read "informed" articles, I want to get some thoughtful insight to my team, and not fed bullsh*t.

I agree but I have read some stuff that comes across as out and out hatred for the Dolphins organization and that is the kind of thing I am talking about.Just read some of the crap that Armando Salguero writes.

The same Andy Cohen that predicted playoffs for us last year? I don't even read his articles anymore.

Andy Cohen needs to grow an opinion. just like steveo wrote above, that guy will never right anything negative, or even realistic about the dolphins. everything is about how all of our moves are great, fantastic, best move EVER!!!

somebody give me a realistic point of view please.

Hard to argue with the philosophy of building from the inside out.

If you can recall he built the lines and within 2 yrs they had one of the fastest closing Defenses if not the fastest in the NFL. Clearly he builds inside then once the lines are settled he moves to the CBs, the Lbers, the WRs
