good player in Buffalo, could be a bit pricey tho

No idea who he is but it does bring up a point about Mathis. If he doesn't hurry up and sign before these upcoming cuts, which will surely include some veterans, doesn't he hurt his bargining position?

I don't think Mathis is concerned about his bargaining position. I think Mathis may only be willing to play if a certain amount of dollars are at stake, and if he doesn't get an offer that compels him to return to the game, he'll simply sit out and maybe retire. He certainly seems in no hurry to get back on the field, and if he's managed him money wisely, I don't blame him. If I'm already a multi-millionaire, why would I risk suffering an injury that might have a deleterious effect on my quality of life unless it's for an amount of money that would make a significant difference in my life?

There is a big difference between getting beat out and getting cut. Does anyone think for a second that if Dallas Thomas beats out Douglas that we are suddenly going to cut Douglas, or vice versa? If he gets beat out then they may ask him to restructure his contract but he is not definitely going to get cut. Not unless there is something bigger going on. Every team needs depth.

N to the O.

Dude got paid and then his productivity dropped like a rock. Whisenhunt is being lauded in TN for finally sitting Levitre despite his high contract and playing a rookie who immediately helped in terms of pass protection ad the run game.

Sticking with our own young and developing talent over this choice is a no-brainer.

may i suggest Pat Kirwin's fabulous "Take Your Eye Off The Ball"... required if you wanna better appreciate all the men who REALLY make this game what it is.

You do know Levitre started on Sat? How is that exactly sitting him.

What happened to that guy? I remember being interested in him as a FA a couple years ago when he was one of, if not the best young guard in the league.

And then, by some amazing turn of events, Sunday happened.

What's worse than putting the second highest paid offensive guard in the NFL - who just happens to have four years left on his contract - on the bench?

Watching the second highest paid OG fail to protect your rookie QB or open holes for your young RB group knowing that there's a better option on the roster.

. . .

Lucky for us, Titans coach Ken Whisenhunt finally bit the bullet on Sunday and started a reworked offensive line that featured Levitre on the bench. The positive returns were obvious and instant. All of the sudden Bishop Sankey went from struggling to breaking off steady gains, Mariota had a consistently safe pocket that allowed him to concentrate on progressing through his reads and the entire offense looked smooth and on schedule.

What about Kevin Boothe. Don't laugh I just saw his name on the top 25 FA list and he was the only other guard other than Mathis on the list. I don't watch Raiders games, no nothing about him other then he's an available guard. Is he any good? He's 32 years old.

I was thinking the same thing. Just because he is beat oit for the starting job does not mean he will be cut. How do we know that they won't keep him as a backup and why wouldnt he just back up the starter?

Levitre and Schwenke are two good linemen who seem to be totally at sea in the Titans offensive scheme. I wouldn't write the book on Levitre yet.
