2. Defense is elite: I love the Dolphins' defense. Led by a very deep but greatly underappreciated defensive line, I fully expect Miami to have one of the top three or four defenses in the league. Vontae Davis and Cameron Wake are budding superstars with a ton of big-play potential, but young complementary players like Sean Smith and Koa Misi are also quite effective -- and should only be getting better. This defense needs to do a better job of taking the football away, and I don't love its free safety situation, but all in all, there are only a couple of NFL defenses that I rank ahead of the Dolphins'. And Mike Nolan is one of the best defensive coordinators in the league.

If the review was negative, the homers would be up in arms about how all the ESPN writers are Pats homers and hate on us for no reason and that the writer is a no-name that no one has ever heard of. But since it's a positive, he must clearly know what he's talking about

3 keys will determine if we improve significantly or continue mediocrity, imo:

1. Can the defense FINALLY convert those turnovers that they've dropped as of late?
2. Will Henne continue to improve, limit the mistakes, and be more consistent as he's shown recently?
3. Does ANYONE on the right side of the OL want to show up and open us some lanes?

Any improvement in these three areas would be welcome. This team can be a force if we do get any help in one or all three of these areas. Execution, execution, execution. Gotta have it now.

The only way we are going to win this year is if we score more points than the other team and/or they score less..

Simple enough.

or as my wife always chimes in right before gametime..."just dont turn the ball over!"

FUHGET ABOUT IT

The only thing separating this defense from being elite is it's ability to create turnovers.

IMO it has more to do with agreeing and disagreeing. I am no genius when it comes to the NFL but when I read an article that places this team at 3-13 I disagree. I follow this team more closely than most of these paid writers who have a collective overview of the league with little focus on the individual team. Most are bogged down by the current trend and simplify their arguement by bunching what the main stream idea is. The leagues obvious picks all go 12-4 and the teams behind them go 4-12. I however, cannot believe that you can logically take a team that went 7-9 last year and made the changes we made (speed, OC, improvements on D ect) and say they are 3-4 games worse. Especially when two teams ahead of them made questionable to non-factor roster moves in the offseason. If you want to bust out this team is going to implode idea I can't buy that either. These guys like all teams are PROFESSIONAL COMPETITORS. If you wanna use last years Pats game against me go ahead but I will attribute that to more than just quitting. It is far more complex. Take away Henning and this team as far less reasons to not be in that spot this year. I would say that 99% of these players are 100% behind that staff and that 1% will soon be cut or spend little time on the field this year.

Sure. But at least Williamson's points are backed up with valid information rather than the typical 'thrown-together' opinions you'll get from Herm Edwards and the Mike and Mike dweebs. Fair criticism is welcome too, I'm all for reality.

Maybe they were just saving up those plays from last year for this year. Seeing that a turnover would just be a 3 and out wildcat disaster they just said **** it we will use them next year. I kid.
