James Carpenter, G, Seahawks. Age: 26. Just a thought. He is young plays right guard leaving the left guard position
for Turner. And he won't command Top $ maybe mid level money.

These others play left guard and will want top dollar.

Mike Iupati, G, 49ers. Age: 28 plays left guard...

Orlando Franklin, G/OT, Broncos. Age: 27 plays left guard...

Best option then is James Carpenter in my opinion besides no one is talking about him
he may sneak under the wire.

.

Carpenter is a first round bust. He's not good. We would be better off starting a younger guy, and hoping he develops. If we can't get Franklin, we should go after Boling. Even Iupati would be a disappointment, because he doesn't pass protect well at all.

He is not a bust he started in the Superbowl and he started in almost every game this year. (Except for Injury)
And he is way better than anything Miami has now.

i love Iupati and what he does, physical mean streak guy with power up front, and can drive people, get to the second level... great guard. but yes he is sub par in pass protection. i still think he would be a solid get, and i think would be better at pass protection here with Pouncey and our line than what we have had, but many may disagree with me he is not worth it, which i understand.

I disagree. He was drafted as a Right Tackle in the first round, and has turned into a sub par guard. He might be better than what we had last year, but not by much, and certainly not enough for it to be a real upgrade, and worth the cash it would take.

Orlando Franklin is the only guy I see that can have an immediate impact on our group. Day 1 starter and makes our line legitimate.

Boling would be an immediate upgrade as well, just doesn't have the versatility Franklin brings. I'd be happy with either one.

Last year, Carpenter was above average on the pass but bad on the run.

Boling was below average on the pass but good on the run.

Franklin was good at both, and worth the big bucks.

Without Franklin, I think we will go young with a cheaper vet band aid.

Took a look at the guard ratings on PFF. Carpenter had a -1 overall grade for the season, but maybe Miami's coaches see something they can work with. I just don't see us spending more cap money on a top rated guard with big money already tied to Albert, Pouncey, and James.

Agreed

If we add in the playoffs, he goes to -12 overall.

I'm seeing him at #47 with a -6.6 overall grade, +1.4 pass and -6.3 run. Are we looking at the same PFF?

If you're seriously starting off your defense of the guy with "He played in the superbowl and started" you're insane. Seattle's offensive line is easily one of their weakest units.

Another guy that can't play tackle in the pros...a one position player...I'd have it Franklin Boles carpenter in free agency order of preference

Although carp would not be coming in a guaranteed starter if I signed him...the other two would and his contract would have to reflect that...

From what I'm seeing, Boling did not have one single game at above average in pass protect all last year. He did well in run blocking but, had bad games vs Balt, TB, and Atlanta when the competition level was increased. Not very impressed but, did not watch him play myself.

Nope, you're right. I mixed up a Carpenter with Rob Sims.
