IAQ has played 100% of the defensive snaps in games one through three. Last week vs Cincy, which was probably their worst performance thanks to AJ Green, Michael Thomas was mixed in and played about 40% of the snaps. (Not that he was responsible for AJ)

Thomas said at the end of 2015 that he was NOT a safety and that his natural position is nickle corner. He doesn't seem to be comfortable with the position by his own admission.

Adam Gase said that McCain has been playing so well recently that Thomas may split time with IAQ at safety more often. McC received his highest snap count of the season last week at 40%. Prior to that he played...

WK1 37.8%
WK2 16.3%
WK3 28%

Why are we paying IAQ $4.25M per year to play part time? Is he one of the characters that are messing assignments? One thing is for certain. Michael Thomas has never been a good safety. For one, he hasn't had a pick since his first ever game in 2013....and he is not a great tackler for being our "big" nickle and he always seems to be on the wrong end of big plays.

First it was Maxwell ($8.5M per year) who was benched. Now IAQ is getting phased out? Is this the way to bring consistency to the defense? Adding more players to the mix....

Tennessee is not a terrible match-up problem for Miami for the DB's. They don't really have a dangerous slot OR outside receiver. Rishard Mathews is good but he is no AJ Green, Doug Baldwin, Terrell Pryor or Julian Edelman. Tajeh Sharp is about even with Mathews production-wise. The issues will likely be for the LBer's covering Delanie Walker and the RB's out of the backfield. DeMarco Murray leads the team in receptions (19) and TD's with 2.

And stopping the running game. DM has 340 yards and 3 TD in the rushing game for a 5.2 ypc. Then they can mix in the big bull (Henry) to run over our poor tackling team.

So last week Miami focused on stopping the mediocre running game of Cleveland and let AJ run against single coverage. I guess this week they will double cover Mathews and let the TE's and RB's kill our depleted LB corp.

FIRE mike fcking tannebaum NOW!!!!!!!!! No one wants to look at his fat ass neck overlapping his collar anymore anyway

I'm glad someone is getting on IAQ's ass.

Yes, he has made *some* plays but it seems to me more often than not he is avoiding a play he could make of he would put an effort into it.

I'm not sold on IAQ as being all that but who do we have? It's pathetic.

Michael Thomas as a starting safety is a fail...he tackles fine for specials and for a nickel corner but as a last man standing at safety nope...won't work

I don't get the iaq split snaps stuff myself and I'm not sure why they think bobby mccains played well either

as for this week this is an o the d should be able to handle given the limited weapons on the outside at wr...load up vs the run limit delanie walker don't let mariota beat you with his legs and force the wrs to beat you and the qb with his arm

although clevelands offense was "right for us" too and that didn't work out too well

Wasn't the story VJ wanted IQ? Was impressed with his play?

You can't be serious. He's usually all over the field when he's out there. Yeah he's not perfect but he is a natural play maker just like Reshad Jones. The only 2 playmakers on defense.

VJ wanted IAQ but he wasn't impressed with IAQ? Huh?

Re read and don't hurt yourself next time

I don't give a **** who is benched or why as long as the best 22 players are on the field at game time.

Dolphins best 22 aren't good enough...that's the issue.

IAQ is a journeyman...never made sense to pay him that much money but Tannenbaum is gonna Tannenbaum.

Michael Thomas is right. He is not a safety. I keep hoping the kid will develop, but he is still kinda raw at CB, and he is dangerous as an S.

Thomas isn't the big physical box stuffing S that can stuff the run reliably like both Jones and IAQ are. Thomas also isn't the guy you can rely on to read the routes correctly or make the TD saving play.

He is best as a nickel, just like he said. There if he wins most of the time and loses some or bites on fakes some, he has help all accross and down the field.

I'm not too happy with IAQ's play thus far, and I support Gase benching him. But, this seems like a bad game to do.it.

The Tennessee defense is very good, so points will be at a premium. One brain fart or blown tackle could lose us the game. Also, the real threat from the Tennessee offense is their running game. That means the best part of IAQ's game will be on display and the worst part of Michael Thomas' will too. Do we want Thomas as our single high safety? I do not. Do we want to depend on Thomas to stuff Derek Henry? Ummmmmm, that's not happening either.

IMHO, this is a must win game, and Thomas doesn't really put us in position to do that.

Must win? Must win for what? Are you still holding out hope the Dolphins make the playoffs? Still haven't come to grips with reality?

Right now Dolphins have the 3rd pick in the draft with Tennessee and Cleveland ahead of them. You can take that however you want.
