So you don't have doubt at LT at all? We've never seen Tunsil play LT in the NFL and got hurt last year after he "slipped in the shower".
I would say every spot on the line has a question mark
Correct, I don't have a doubt about LT. No player or position is a guaranteed success, but by the same token we can't really have any meaningful doubt if we're universally applying it to every position. Along the OL, I have serious doubts about Pouncey's health. While Tunsil is a projection, he's not a rookie and we've seen him play LT well at the NFL level in this system. He was widely regarded as one of the best, if not THE best, prospect in last year's draft. His production matched that potential. Can he get hurt? Of course, but I do have confidence in him manning our LT position.
Asiata, whom I really liked as a prospect and whom I like as a player, is a rookie making a jump from a lesser conference than the SEC from which Tunsil came. I expect our 5th round draft pick to start, experience growing pains, learn, and be productive. But, the fact that he's a rookie and not the same slam-dunk prospect that Tunsil was, has me worried. I am concerned how quickly he can make that adjustment, and while I hope and think he can do it quickly ... that remains an open question.
Pouncey has not lived up to most of the timetables he has been projected to make in the past, and this offseason has been less than expected a year ago. It is hard to have much confidence that he will get and stay healthy.
Bushrod is old, and was a very poor run blocker last year. Each of those things causes me concern, but together, yes, I am worried about him in that position. Ju'Wuan James has been inconsistent and injured both in the distant past and in the recent past. I am understandably worried about which of the 3 James' we will get ... the good James that finished last season, the bad James that showed up a lot in the earlier part of last year, or the injured James who we've seen on many occasions in the past.
I'm also worried about our TE Julius Thomas. His injury history is atrocious.
We've already experienced a worst-case scenario at QB, but between Cutler and Moore, I think we've gotten about as good of a solution as we were going to find since the Tannehill injury re-surfaced. Not much to worry about there ... it's a wait and see. We know it's not going to be ideal.
I do not worry about our WR and RB situation. While, IMHO, the dropoff after Ajayi is very large, at least I do have confidence that we can have a semblance of a run game with Drake and Williams. While I always worry about Parker's health, and Landry and Stills are vital to what we do, I feel we have reasonably good depth at the position.
But, the run game depends on our OL more than it does Ajayi. And, any hope we have of success in the passing game, begins and ends with our OL as well.
It's clear that once again, the OL is our weak link. Given the state of our OL, there simply is more riding on their success than the other positions ... and the OL has by far the most and biggest question marks in my estimation. Tunsil is not one of those question marks for me.
