Philip Wheeler blows, period. No sense in hashing that one out and I can't wait for someone to defend him. Would be epic. I can't fully ascertain whether or not Ellerbe was worth his contract as I want to see another year of work under his belt in this defense. That leads me to Koa Misi. I thought after 2012, the light bulb turned on and he had a decent season. I thought last year was a step backwards. Misi definitely is worth a roster spot no doubt but not as a starter IMO. That leads me to Dion Jordan. No clue what this kids role is. I can certainly understand if Miami truly was shopping him because he doesn't really have a true position. If he could play OLB that would be awesome but it's almost like he is a 3rd down pass rushing specialist and definitely NOT what you want to see from a very high draft pick. I don't feel he can play D-line because he doesn't appear to be strong enough and Vernon really is coming into his own. Great potential upside for sure but in what capacity? He almost reminds me of an Aldon Smith from the niners in body. Did we get anything from Jenkins last year to prove he can take the job away from Misi or Wheeler? Well my grandma could out perform Wheeler and she is dead.

So how is everyone feeling here? Anyone want to convince me Philip Wheeler deserves a roster spot? Maybe his contract will ultimately dictate that but my god could you suck any more? Any potential free agent guys here or is this something we secure in the draft?

brandon spikes.

doesnt seem to be any love for him here.

I see them going o-line.. it's a shame to me because this draft has a lot of talented skill players.
You do?

Depending on how much say-so Hickey had, the Bucs haven't drafted an O-Linemen in the 1st since 2006.

I think LB is our biggest need. We don't have size in the middle now, and we're going to get gashed by the run game unless we sign a Zach Thomas caliber MLB.

Mitchell, Miami’s new defensive tackle, had four sacks last year but was graded by Pro Football Focus as the NFL’s 51st-best defensive tackle of 69. He was 57th in run defense.
But Mitchell, 6-3, 300 pounds, was playing as a nose tackle in a 3-4 defense." I don't see a big run stopping cog in the middle when we rotate to a 3-4. Odrick, Mitchell, and Francis? Sounds like last year's Martin, Jerry and Clabo.

Jordan is best suited for 3/4 OLB, but we drafted him for DE when in fact he's meant to be an OLB. If we're going to stick with a 4/3 the I'd say put him at OLB and adjust, have more blitzing from his 4/3 OLB position. Play him some at DE on passing downs. Get creative, make him more of a Joker OLB. Odrick is a DT now so maybe draft a pure 4/3 DE like James Gayle from Virginia Tech. The coaching staff actually has to do some thinking and scheming with Jordan, maximize that talent. Have him cover, play in space, pass rush from both 4/3 OLB and DE. In other words, the talent is there and it's time for the coaching staff to show that they're actually capable of maximizing a player's talent in an imperfect situation. If they can.

Would loveeeeee to see Mosely get drafted by us. Shoot even give Jenkins a chance with more PT. Just get Wheeler the heck off the field.

I can't be the only one, but Jenkins looked like day-and-night compared to Wheeler when he was in.

I just remember the Saints game when Sproles was eating Wheeler up, they put in Jenkins and Sproles was neutralized.

I think Jenkins is an improving option on passing downs but there are guys out there that are better.

It is just so difficult to comprehend how bad Wheeler was last season. I mean it looked like guys were running glitch madden plays against him. It was caught and ran for yards after catch every time.

Karlos Dansby anyone?

Agreed. We need a run stuffing mlb. Spikes fills a role that our d lacks.

Spikes was a beast in College. I still remember him blowing up McFadden. He'd be a good option in the middle and is used to playing against Tommy boy in practice.
