Part of that maneuvering is knowing he played too conservatively last year. Tua averaged just 6.3 yards per attempt, third from the bottom among qualifying QBs
Why? why? Why you have to do this to me?

Always cringe when people associate passing aggressivity with yards per attempt... Here's a pro writer for NFL.com looking the wrong way...
Those of us who realize 90+% of the time, even the great ones need some time to get acclimated to the NFL, are giving him all the benefit of the doubt. Others, not so much.So are we saying Tua has to fully mature this year? Josh for the bills looked better last year, his 3rd. Do our QB get the same courtesy?
A bit dramatic.Good article, although many will not accept it as reality, this is the year Tua sinks, or swims with fish :)
YPA is just a measure of how efficient a passer/passing offense is... nothing to do with how aggressive they are downfield. Drew Lock is top 5 in the NFL in intended air yards and only has a 6.6 YPA. Drew Brees was bottom of the league in IAY but still managed a decent 7.5 YPA, seems counter intuitive, how the hell does a QB throw for 6.3 air yards on average and ends up with a 7.5 YPA... Comp% + YAC, thats how. You're right its not the best way to judge aggression but it is a way to judge how successful you are with that aggression.
A low average means you aren't hitting many of the shots you're taking. That isn't all Tua either, its the passing offense as a whole.
Either way that is a number you want to see go up this year.
