Can anybody tell me how this guy is doing. He is not the biggest player but he has serious speed. 4.28 speed.

I heard a little blurb about him from Sparano in an interview, but that's it. Basically just confirming how we landed him in the first place. But nothing to this point on how he's doing.

anthony armstrong tore it up in the arena league (i believe), looked good to me out at training camp, is getting a lot of looks in the preseason games, and probably has more upside than any receiver on the roster not named ginn and hagan.

There have been ZERO camp reports on Armstrong... so he's been invisible in practice.

That being said, he's looked outstanding in the 2 pre-season games:

Tampa - 1 catch for 21 yards - no drops (#2 in receiving yards)
Jax - 3 catches for 22 yards - no drops (#3 in receiving yards)

********
Armstrong has good speed and good hands... and if you were judging him solely based on these pre-season games... then he'd certainly make the team.

That being said... he may turn into a practice-squader as not many people have noticed him in these 2 games. I have, though.

i was out there. he wasn't invisible to me. i can't control what the reporters write ;)

i hope we keep him.

you cant teach that kind of speed and laugh at the leauge he came from
all you want, but one thing about it, you have to be able to GET OPEN
QUICK! and he was a star in that leauge.

he looked VERY fluid in the jags game. very limited time with the team
and he looked pretty damn comfy out there!

this is the kind of player you keep. find someone else, like martin [the TE]
to cut. he hasnt done diddly! and i know we gave wilford a 6 mill signing
bonus, but that guy has been the BIGGEST free agent bust in YEARS!!

i like armstrong and i hope the finz find a way to keep him.

The only way he makes this roster is if Bess doesn't, and I think this forum would implode if that happened.

I would LOVE to see him return more kick. He kinda jumped out at me in the Tampa game in his lone return. I like his quickness. They never gave him the opportunity in the Jax game.

I thought he might make the team as a special teamer for returns.. but if he doesnt get more time there I don't see how he makes this team.

you can't fix stupid and you can't teach speed

Hopefully Armstrong will get a long look and you have to be somewhat kamakazi to play receiver in the arena league so throwing him a shot at punt returns could be a possiblility too. Have they tried that does anyone know? Sorry I've been on vacation and need to get caught up. With that kind of speed if there is an upside to his route running and his hands they'll find a way to keep him.

His size on the roster says he's 175 pounds. I have also seen where he is 195. There's quite a difference between a 175 pound WR and a 195 pound WR.

Bess is going to make the team as the 3rd/4th wr. Armstrong is a strong possibility for the fifth spot.

Lets look at that.

Ginn and Hagan are locks. If you say Bess is, so be it. Armstrong is competing with Wilford, Camarillo, and Kircus for two spots. I think we keep Wilford to offset the total lack of experience in your top three, so you have Armstrong fighting with two very good role playing receivers. I doubt it happens.

If it did, we would have two rookie receivers, a second year man, a third year man, and a veteran. I don't see this happening at all.
