Back in 2005, Anthony Fasano made a great effort to get a first down on the following play:

Now that you've seen that, there is something about that play you should know...watch this video:

Here is the summary...a 10 year old boy named Montana Mazurkiewicz had terminal cancer and was a huge Notre Dame fan. His last wish was to meet with Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis. Coach Weis met with Montana and told him that he could pick the play for Notre Dame's first offensive possession of their next game. Montana told him "pass right". The day before Notre Dame's next game, Montana died at the tragically young age of 10. For Notre Dame's opening possession of their next game (which was against the University of Washington), the Irish were backed up in terrible field position at their own 1 yard line. Coach Weis kept his promise and sent the play in to Brady Quinn to "pass right". Quinn dropped back to pass and found Fasano, who made a herculean effort to hurdle a defender to pick up a first down and honor the memory of Montana Mazurkiewicz. Fasano's effort for this young man was awesome and the story of this young boy's passing brought tears to my eyes.

Great story my friend, despite the lack of replies I still find that you bring some pretty great posts here in finheaven. This should be nothing more of a reminder for the rest of the people; one shall be grateful of their life, regardless of their financial, physical or personal conflicts. Having your child die at a very young age is something that a rightious parents should never have to go through.

May Montana rest in peace, god has given you a place in his kingdom.

Thanks man, nice story....we stole fasano from dallas, beck is gonna love him.

Thanks for the great post. I actually live up here in South Bend, Indiana and I remember seeing that story. Very sad, and it helps us to remember about just how lucky we are to be in good health.

Thanks for the reminder.

I remember watching the story on TV. I think it was before one of the ND games. However, I didn't realize Fasano was involved on the play.

Thanks so much, my friend!

Thanks for sharing that story man, extremely touching. Its refreshing to see that the concept of honor and respect are still very much alive nowadays.

Once in a while we all need a reality check, thank you for sharing that story, it makes you wake up and smell the coffee so to speak, there is more to life than materialistic things, life is very precious and we should appreciate every breath that we breathe.

Thank you so much for posting that.

2sad; I shudder to think what it would feel like having to see my child suffer or having to say goodbye to him like that. Charlie surged way up in MY rating book, good man. Thanks for the link.

RIP Montana
