Elite run blocking

Fasano is very intelligent player with excellent durability.

Maybe he just needs to be targeted a little more, but with the addition of a guy like Reggie Bush that isn't likely to happen; but the level of underappreciation for Fasano is absurd.

Yes, the Dolphins should compliment him with a TE that is a more prolific receiver, but they did indeed draft Clay and sign Brackett;
however, saying he is overpaid and should be a number 2 or 3 is just wrong.

At about 2 mil, he is a huge bargain.

Can I get an amen.

Where's the elite running in quicksand ability? lol

Fasano is a good tight end but he lacks speed. Two years ago he dropped and fumbled a lot of balls...he came back and had a nice year but he still can't threaten the seam.

I'm not disappointed that we have Fasano, I'm glad we do. I am disappointed that he's the #1 TE on the roster though. As a #1 TE he can't create mismatches, as a #2 he can just like he did in 2008 when he caught 7 TDs.

bargain in todays market at about $2 mil if thats accurate...sure...mismatch pass receiver against a lb or safety...nope...guy defensive coordinators must account for...nope

Hes the Matt Roth of the TE position

On a bad team hes a good player
On an average team hes an average player

On a good team hes the weakest link.

Speed, schmeed. Fasano was great in 2008 when we won the division. Make him a target. Fit the ball in to him in the middle of the field and let him punish the DBs. 10 yards here. 15 there. Go to him 6 to 8 times a game at least. He is also a threat in the red zone.

You do realize that Fasano was the #2 TE on the roster that year. David Martin was the #1.

Well FWIW, I think we should have signed Boss to go along with Fasano. sigh ...

I think that Clay will surprise and will complement Fasano very well...

Did you go to the links??

Boss sucks! He led the league in drop percentage and it was ugly man, really ugly.

This is just the kind negative bias I'm talking about.

again there the same style of TE but Boss has worse hands, there is a reason it took him until today to get signed and overpaid for by the desperate Seahawks and theirs a reason the Giants let him walk with no real replacement to step in, its just a fancy name that gets people excited

I like Fasano, and can't figure out why people around here **** on him.

To some extent, I blame the herd mentality. A couple people crap on him, more pile on just because it seems like the thing to do - before you know it, that's the main opinion because lots of posters take everything they read as gospel. (If everybody's saying it then it must be correct, right?)

I hope that you're right but you're banking the house on a 6th round draft pick that 31 other teams evaluated and consciously ignored, many times. Clay could turn out to be a gem, but statistically the chances of getting a top contributor as a 6th rounder, are slim.

People seem to be really fascinated by the big production TEs like Whitten, Gates and Gonzalez. Or they see what the Pats did with their two rookies and think, "oh, we should do that too". I always liked Fasano. And no one appreciates a good blocking TE.
