Anthony Fasano - The Total Package

I hope (and believe) that under Daboll, Fasano will be doing a lot more route running and a lot less pass blocking

The rest of the NFL has embraced the 2 TE concept and drafted/recruited accordingly. While Rosario may turn out well, he was cut from last year's bottom team. Where were we when Heaps, Miller, Shockey, Olsen, Boss, et al were on the market? Maybe we get lucky. Maybe Charles Clay turns out to be a stud from the 6th round in the draft.

And if anything that watching the NFL has proven is true, jumping on a bandwagon scheme was because other teams have done it has been incredibly effective.

You maybe right but it does look like the other teams are using the multiple TEs as weapons and we are just sitting pat with Fasano.

If anybody watched the Ravens dismantle the Steelers yesterday you would have seen Dennis Pitta and Ed Dickson running all over that defense. A combined 7 catches for 104 yards and 1 TD. Too bad this regime thinks one TE is all you need.

yeah...ed dickson made some sweet over the shoulder catches yesterday...fantasy peeps take note...there's a sleeper

i think fasanos hands are pretty solid but he's just a marginal athlete at the position...belongs in line and running routes underneath...definitely shouldn't be trying to get down the seam vs cover 2...he's just not enough of a win athlete as a pass catcher down the field...requires no additional attention from the defense...ideally hes your primary in line te and you have a premium athlete threatening teams down the seam...

Most people think Fasano can't catch because some of his more memorable plays are key bobbles that get picked off and he often fumbles RIGHT when a drive is starting to pick up steam. Overall he is great at getting open and moving the chains, and has pretty good hands. If he could cut down on the boneheaded plays in critical situations, he wouldn't catch nearly as much flack.

To bad he has the foot speed of Vernon Carey

Vernon Davis IS the best all around TE. People forget how good of a blocker Vernon Davis is.

Rosario was a free agent this year and John Fox doesn't throw to TEs at all. He does have some injury issues, but I am actually pretty happy with this pick up.

We have like 4 TEs, Fasnao is a passing threat, Rosario is a passing threat, and Clay who is a FB that is going to play TE as well is a passing threat..

Vernon Davis is a terrible blocker. His hands aren't that good either.

This is a joke right? Vernon Davis was praised as one of the better blocking TEs in the league, and was known as the 6th offensive linemen. In fact, Mike Singletary often left Vernon Davis on an island and let him block other teams pass rushers, reason why he wouldn't go out to pass so much when he was younger. Vernon Davis is a very good blocking TE..

A 6th Marc Colombo. Just another reason Singletary is back to being a linebackers coach. 8th worst pass blocking tight end last year and the last 3 years combined.
