Anwar Phillips

He was a projected 3rd round pick. I think we shoul bring him in as an UDFA. Played very well at Penn State. http://www.nfl.com/draft/profiles/2006/phillips_anwar

I have no idea how this guy went undrafted. He had a mediocre senior bowl week, but played very well in the actual game. He doesn't have blazing speed, but neither does Travis Daniels.

I know Phillips is better than some of the DBs that did get drafted, including his teammate that went at the top of round 7.

He got beat all the time at PSU. He is terrible in run support and always falls for double moves. He has decent speed, but not great. He gets beat deep a lot and as result, tends to play soft, giving a 10 yard cushion at times. He was not better than Zemaitis or Lowry at PSU. Ethan Kilmer, the guy you mentioned, was actually a WR at PSU. Don't know why he is being listed as a DB.

i no who that is in the bowl game he was batting down passes and locking down his man he did great all the games i watched him play

One game does not make a career. Trust me on this one. I've watched every PSU game since i went there and Anwar was far from spectacular. He'll sign as a free agent and get a shot, and possible make a team somewhere, but he has a lot of work to do in his technique and ball skills. He has the tools, he just never put it all together.

Also, don't just think b/c you see a good play here or there that Anwar is sticking to his man. Many times he was getting help deep from Lowry or Harrell or didn't have to cover his man long b/c Hali was wreaking havoc in the backfield. But whenever there was a deep pass, #1 was trailing the play.
