Does miami have a chance to make it to the title game?
If we beat VT and then beat FS in the ACC championship?? Or do we need for either USC or Texas to lose as well?

If Miami beats VT...

...then at least 3 of these 4 teams must lose: USC, Texas, UCLA, Alabama. USC and UCLA play each other, so one will lose. Bama still has LSU and Auburn and the SEC championship, so they will probably drop one. Texas looks great right now...that comeback against Okie State was almost more impressive than if they had just romped. USC still has Cal and a suddenly tough Stanford on its schedule before UCLA, and they've gotten lucky a few times. So it's possible for UM, but they've got to take care of business and have some fortune.

The problem is for that to happen LSU would have to beat Alabama, and the question becomes who win jumps them higher in the polls, Lsu over Bama or UM or VaTech. And whether both of those teams win their conference championship games.

I don't know where the LSU-Bama game is, but I think a Miami victory in Blacksburg would wow the hell out of the BCS voters. Of course, it's all moot if USC and Texas run the table.

Miami is not going to beat Va. Tech, so this argument is going nowhere. The Hokies have probably one of the best secondaries in the nation, they will lock down Miami's WR's. Which in turn means Kyle Wright will continue holding onto the ball like he loves to do, getting sacked several times. Miami's only hope is Tyrone Moss just absolutely exploding in this game. Welcome to the ACC Miami, you will finish a distant 3rd in the conference once again.
Virginia Tech 21
Miami 17

LSU plays at Alabama. And what I meant was who's win is more impressive, for example if one team barely wins the game and the other convincingly beats their opponent.

Im a hurricanes fan but i knew week 1 they screwed there chance when they lost to FSU...if they win then and are sitting here undefeated and beat undefeated VAtech...then i'd say they could be sitting at #2 in the next bcs rankings but if they win this week look for a #5 or #4 ranking next week

well if miami absolutely slaughters vatech, they could move up to #3 maybe. otherwise they'd just move up a spot to #4

even if UM slaughter VT, there is no way they jump ahead of an Undefeated Alabama that just beat LSU.

yeah but if alabama pulls another one of those last-second field goal wins, and miami just crushes vatech, then i'm sure one of the polls would flip-flop the two teams. the BCS would probably remain the same (save for vatech of course)

i really doubt it. LSU is still a top 10 team. no matter how Alabama beats them, if their undefeated their going to be ahead of UM who has 1 lose.

If LSU plays at Bama, then a Miami win in Blacksburg would have to impress some voters. When you sneak away with a win on the road, it's great heart. When you do the same at home (6-3, cough cough), it's getting lucky.

And re: the FSU loss, you all know college football rewards those who lose early rather than late. Practically, I'd much rather have lost to FSU in the first game than VT in what, the 7th game. Because we'd be at 3 or 4 now (no one was passing USC/Texas at this point) and a loss to VT would just about end our championship hopes anyway. At least this way a one-loss team can sneak in if there's only one undefeated.
