Any chance the Fins make a run at Vontae?

Philbin didn't like him... I wish we could. Him and Grimes would be Madison/Surtain 2.0

Are you kidding? He had one good game on national TV and then got roasted the next week. The guy sucks. He is NOT a top corner.

Not completely true. Philbin and the other coaches didn't like Vontae's immaturity. Coming to training camp out of shape didn't help Davis' case.

right now we have two cb that is better than vonte and smith

Where did you hear Philbin didn't know? Seems far fetched but I'm not entirely doubting it. And people are far too paranoid of every single player going to NE. Vontae will go wherever he gets paid the most. With that said, I'd still take him back

The entire trade process played out on Hard Knocks.
Anatomy of a trade: Vontae Davis' departure on Hard Knocks
What was interesting was that the entire trade process was shown on the penultimate episode of "Hard Knocks." Davis had been a disappointment through training camp -- his conditioning and attitude had been called into question by various coaches -- and when general manager Jeff Ireland received a text from the Colts asking about a trade, that got the ball rolling. HBO showed Ireland texting as the NFL Network was speculating about Colts owner Jim Irsay's tweets regarding a potential blockbuster trade. The Colts started by offering fifth- and sixth-round picks, upped it to a third-round pick, and settled on a second.

Head coach Joe Philbin didn't seem too broken up about losing the inconsistent Davis, whose awareness on the field became a real issue.

"He's a good kid, but I wonder if we're ever going to get him to where we would like him to be," Philbin said.

Good young players don't hit free agency often. Would be a good move. Cut Patterson and Moore use that money on vontae

I was a fan of Vontae and I didn't like the trade at the time. For one, I didn't think we got good value for a player entering his prime. Also, he was our leading guy in takeaways the 3 years he was here. He's a fabulous tackler in run support. I'd take him back - problem is he's going to be very expensive.

The trade is not that bad. We got a 2nd and 6th as I remember for missing out on 2 years of Vontae and he played pretty poorly in 2012. We would potentially be looking at trying to make a big payday for him if we kept him. I like where we are at CB better now than with the guy. He played lazy and dumb here most of the time.

Vontae and Grimes would be a very good CB duo but it isn't going to happen. He is definitely an upgrade at the other corner
