I know it seems trivial now, but I think this decision spoke volumes about this coaching staff. Franks ended up missing the extra point, but to me that was a bizarre decision that had to have the players scratching their heads. Loser mentality. Didn't see much talk about this moment in the game. Was joe asked about this in his press conference?:ponder:

Glad to see they've got it covered.

I wish, when these coaches say "well, we just didn't play well" someone in the press would say the following:

"Clearly. The question is WHY you didn't play well."

"Why did you choose not to go for 2 when down by 21 points. Is it that you had given up at that point?"

"In hindsight, do you regret kicking (and missing) the extra point? Do you understand the optics of such a move - regardless of if you were successful or not? Do you understand that clapping your hands and saying "let's go" after every punch your team takes to the gut only reinforces their lack of confidence in your ability to lead them to success?"

I didnt think that was that bad, actually it had a better chance of giving us some points than RT.

Bills were flagged for a 10 yd holding penalty around midfield on 2d down. The play was an incomplete pass. Philbin declined the penalty which wouldve made it 2d and 20 from Bills 40, he went with 3d and 10 from 50. That spoke to his level of confidence in the defense, he had none, and neither did the rest of the building.

Wish people would stop expecting coaches to give real info during press conferences. They just don't do it. All you get is blanket statements.

Anyhow, they did go for 2 and one point. Not sure what the score was, but I just because the coaches doesn't do what YOU would do, doesn't make it a loser mentality. That's dumb. Most coaches don't coach a game as if it's Madden.

Someone misplaced the magic potion on the sideline which was an important factor on going for 2 after the first TD. Can't go for 2 without that bottle of magic juice.

That would be a stupid question to ask Philbin seeing as we were never down by 21...

But down by 26 you need 1 FG plus 3 TDs plus a 1 pt conversion and two 2 point conversions.

It has nothing to do with whether you convert or not (we actually missed the extra point) that's not the point. You're down 21 points and you just scored a touchdown to CUT IT to a 21 point deficit. What does it say about your psyche when you're not concerned about getting back in the game. You go for one and make it, big deal. You go for two and get stopped, at least you're trying like hell to get back into the game. That decision (kicking the extra point) is more symbolic of your lack of urgency than anything else. That's the Loser mentality I was talking about.

Guess I'm the only one who feels this way.

Right I saw that. My bad. We were actually down by 20 not 21. Rishard Mathews just caught that underthrown ball at the one and fell into the endzone to make it 34-14 or a 20 point deficit. My only point was that the way we were playing, what good does 1 pt do? Other than forcing you to have to get two more successful two point conversions later anyway? At this point, strategically, the risk benefit differential is tiny. The symbolic importance however is much greater here. All I'm saying.

Besides, do you really think Philbin was playing the numbers at this point in the game? I don't. I had a sick feeling in my stomach when saw I that. Correction: I already had that sick feeling in my stomach for three hours (when I read reports that Dolphins look flat in warmups). This just made it worse.
